I just took the heads apart a week ago every seal was cracking apart. The seals were over twenty years old on the heads. The seals are cheap to try first. After doing the seals you can do a quick compression test to find out if your rings are good.

I really appreciate this video you made. What mileage were you at when you did this and how has it been since? My 3.0i is finally ringing when I gas it up a hill or otherwise use the transfer case and I’m hunting down a chain with a god warranty so I don’t have to do this more than once for another 260k miles hopefully

Around 165k mileage. It has been flawless, with it being a BorgWarner they are very well known to make outstanding chains and a very good price. It felt heavier then the factory I took out. I had no doubt it is going to last now for a very long time.

Since the splines are shot I would have just cut the first 3/4" off of where that shaft slides up into the transfer case shaft. Those splines aren't doing anything anyways because they are worn off and most people doing this job has splines that are completely worn flat. Just cut that transfer case shaft down 3/4" with a saw zaw good metal blade then you'll have plenty of room to get that prop shaft up in there straight and then just slide it up in there.

Hi. I can't see if you have 1 or 2 actuators. I want to use these on a flip nose on my 57 Chevy gasser. It is an all steel front clip, not fiberglass. In looking for a good set of these online many say that they are NOT meant to work together as a pair but only as a single because they usually travel at different speeds. So, are you using 2 together, and if so, have you had any problems. Thanks for any info you can give.
@ratsrodsgarage461
@ratsrodsgarage461 Жыл бұрын
Using two, one per side. So far no problems with actuators. The only problem I had was the remote control box failed but that is probably my fault. The controller box was mounted on frame and got weather to it. Should of mounted it in cab. I just installed a switch under dash that controls for now.

I have an 08 Odyssey I suspect of having bad valve seals, but mine only smokes once it's warm . . . and idling only. Any comment on that? (just curious).
@ratsrodsgarage461
@ratsrodsgarage461 Жыл бұрын
Valve steam seal leakage. Hondas are known for that problem and it will probably be all four or six. You can pull plugs to see. The reason it is doing it while warn is your head is all aluminum it expands when hot retracts when cold. At idle there is less pressure pushing oil around so the seals tend to leak.
@amnaatarapper

Its valves seals, I have the exact same issue, it doesnt smoke when running only after a red stop for example because there is high vaccume in the top end of the engine which sucks oil into pistons. I just ordered a liqui moly product for that which might help my issue, try to give it a go if its minor

@ratsrodsgarage461

For a speed sensor you need to put a scanner on it to find which wheel is having the problem there is one on each wheel. If it is a bad speed sensor yes it will turn off abs break lights on dash when replaced if that is showing what the problem is on a scanner. If you do not have one check auto part stores most have on and will scan it for free for you.

Does this fix this issue where the traction control lights go on? My Saturn vue 08 has the lights come on when I’m driving. Then it doesn’t shift right and can’t go higher speed. I really have zero idea about cars lol.
@ratsrodsgarage461
@ratsrodsgarage461 Жыл бұрын
Most of the time if the wheel sensor is causing the problem it will show up on a obd2 scanner which wheel sensor is not reading right aka bad. Yes if a wheel speed sensor is bad you will have a Christmas tree of traction control lights on dash. The main reason for that is the abs brake system needs to know each wheel speed to adjust for best breaking. The abs and traction control work together. Try going to a auto part store and have them scan your car to see if a bad wheel sensor is detected.

4.7 ... put a new serpentine belt on. See that hex head plug with the orange sealer surrounding it? That is the plug I unscrew to burp the cooling system. I screw in a small plastic funnel after draining the cooling system for a change. I always jack the front of the Commander up so the engine is tilted just a tiny little bit. [My Commander has a natural lower rake look to it, high in the back] 1~Fill the radiator. 2~Test the radiator cap. Will the cap hold 20 lb? 3~Put the cap back on. 4~Fill the overflow bottle at least halfway to the factory paint mark. 5~Keep filling coolant until the funnel is full. 6~Start the engine. Immediately the coolant will be sucked down into the engine, water pump, and hoses. 7~Keep adding coolant as the engine and thermostat warm. Don't allow air to go down the funnel. 8~Wait, keep filling if necessary. But keep the funnel full. A full funnel is the 'foot-head' and is the highest point in the cooling system. Watch the overflow bottle, it may go up. It may not. But it is there to keep any air out. 9~Once the engine is up to normal temperature and the funnel is still full, have a friend increase the engine rpm from idle to about 1,200 rpm ... the coolant will again be sucked down into the engine. Add more coolant. 10~When no more coolant will go down the funnel and still holding the 1,200 rpm steady ... remove the funnel and screw in the threaded hex plug. 11~at this point the cooling system is full and burped with no air pockets. You can't do better than that. Now can you?

Are the 3.7, 4.7, 5.7, radiator's all the same? I took my fan shroud out from the bottom and not the top. Is this a Dorman Radiator? Nope it's a Koyorayod ?? One could cut and tape a corrugated protective cover over both front and back of the fins. So the power steering rad is separate from the engine radiator? ... check good deal. The automatic transmission fluid radiator is also separate? ... check good deal. The leaky Radiator ... did someone try to fix the leak with a leak sealer? The Radiator cap should be tested ... mine held 4 lb but not 19 lb [psig]. It is most important to bleed the air out of the cooling system, you don't want to drop any valve seats in the head with one over heating episode.
