Can’t believe I didn’t find this pedal sooner. It does have a vibe! I will get one to try out but I have some items that need to be cleared up. PH didn’t use a BB1200s Yamaha Bass until post JD era. In an interview with Yamaha for the release of the PH signature model, PH says he used a Yamaha BB600 bass that got stolen in 1980 while in America.This bass model does not exist. Yamaha never denied the fact the BB600 bass doesn’t exist but it’s not in any production catalog. JD never got a chance to tour in the US so if a bass was stolen in the US, he was already in NO doing Movement era songs when that bass was stolen. If Yamaha doesn’t have a BB600 in their catalog, what bass could have it been? It definitely was not a BB1200s. After the first Yamaha got stolen during the tour for Movement, which is supposedly a BB600, PH purchased a BB1200. Equipboard says the BB1200 was used in the JD LWTUA video. And it does look like a BB1200 because it has a rosewood fretboard and the inlays are not dot. To add to the confusion there is a BB1000 floating around this same era with non-dot inlays. Equiboard does not have this bass listed. The BB800, BB1000, and BB1200 (not S) had the same PU configuration “Reversed” for PU configuration and electronics with a note “P.” The BB1200 is neck-through and BB800 bolt on. Electronics: one volume knob and one tone. To me they look the same except it is hard to tell which one PH plays because I cannot see if it is bolt on or neck through. Rosewood fretboard and non-dot inlays in a lot of videos suggests BB1200 so my observational guess is the stolen bass was a BB1200. After the Movement era, PH buys a BB1200s. It is a super (suped up) version of the BB1200 & neck through with non dot inlays. The now famous preamp 3-band EQ with separate volume and tone control and featured in a 1981 Yamaha guitar catalog as the first year of production. So if PH bought it, it must have been after the US tour sometimes in 1981. In my opinion (no one asked for), the BB1200s would be a post Movement and a pre Power Corruption & Lies era bass. The PCL album was released in May 83. Regarding active pre basses, there is a picture of NO playing Provinssirock festival, Seinäjoki, 1982 and PH has a neck through bass which looks like the same preamp as a BB1200s but the headstock is way off (it has two soap bar PUs. Alembic maybe?) Equiboard does not have this bass listed. Trying to figure out what bass that is. Lots of pics of that year with the 6-string Shergold Bass so maybe it is a boutique bass found. Now for the sound everyone is after, for some time it was Hondo II Ricky copy through a chorus pedal with a little bit of distortion until it was smashed. The EH Clone Theory Chorus being the most talked about used.The Hondo bass is widely known and seen in the Transmission video. For recording the CLOSER album, basses were run through an Alembic F-2B pre and a Amcron DC300A amp. Now go buy this ME pedal and have some fun.

Too many good ones to mention but I do like those Electrofood pedals a lot! The two worst sounding ones to my taste were the Dystopia and Total Garbage which ironically sound completely different from each other. Who know, maybe together they might sound really cool?

It wouldn't be an exaggeration, embellishment, eager excited energetic extreme enthusiasm, or other "E" words, to say: This is the greatest (fuzz) pedal shootout video ever made. (Wish he'd thrown in a few of the cheapies too, just for reference. But, it's a very very very minor gripe.)

Not that I needed to hear it, but would've been cool to see DOD Carcosa on the list Nonetheless, amazing demo. I'm ready to pick up some extra fuzzes I don't think I need, but kinda want. I also understand now why Shigeharu is so loved and sought after, very sweet sound.

The Shallow Water is pretty much next on my list, what are some drawbacks, if you don't mind? Cheers!
@billsmello16 күн бұрын
@@TheFunky57there really aren’t any, it’s just closer to a vinyl warble pedal than a true chorus vibrato. Kind of a vibe machine that’s not as intense as something like this.
