Only reason i didn't buy one was the shipping. I wanted one so bad i was going to fly there to pick it up and bring it back but buying it here will be easier. From someone who doesn't get forced to ride something and say its great i think this is the best design on the market. If i could demo any board this is the one.

I’m just about to buy my first down wind board which I also plan on using as a sup foil board in the waves. I have my eyes on the it dragonfly surf edition. Slightly unsure of which size I should get. What do you guys think? 86kilos I can sup surf sinker boards I prone foil and connect about 5 waves before I tire out. I’m thinking either 110liter at 7’10 or the 120 liter at 8’. What are your thoughts? I’ll probably use it more for winging and sup surfing over down winding anyway. Also how much do you guys weigh and what size boards do you usually go for?
@joshku199022 күн бұрын
I weigh 80 and I like 105L , for what your talking about I rekon 7’6 would be good 😊

I think this one goes to Josh but the swell looked bigger on Josh's run whereas Zane seemed to be using the paddle a little more to stay connected. Or was Zane's drone footage capturing better angles? Zane takes the drone footage for me. Great concept!

Thanks for sharing, love the idea, definitely matches to what people enjoy about dw is the snowboard back country feel. You could do a virtual comp where you get to submit your best 2min section and then score each. I do like the idea of the same conditions because obviously someone at Hood is going to look better. Gain points for linking consecutive bumps, 360 carves, tips out, holding turns to completion, snap cutbacks Lose points for pumping, touchdowns, going straight But, and I say it with all respect - this looked somewhat forced for you guys. Conditions looked tricky, struggle to get a rhythm going, so for me the flow wasn't there. (pro riders, I've come to expect the edited version, so take this as intended - constructive) I guess a good test is that I wouldn't show this to surf mates to impress them. I would show them the Hood river one, with you and Jack, that was really good. Maybe board was too big, making turns look a bit more nursed. Another way of saying this is that if the conditions aren't good, it's hard to make the foiling look smooth. Reminds me of a surf contest in onshore grovel, you can judge it, but its tough to make much of it. On the whole, I really like the idea of this. Maybe an idea is the parawing or efoil for these tricky conditions. That way you ride the best foil and board for the conditions, and don't have to worry about paddle ups. But I like the experimentation. Very cool.
@joshku199027 күн бұрын
Amazing thanks for the detailed review
@Hdip27 күн бұрын
But surf contests are in grovel conditions all the time. We are at the mercy of the conditions. While I agree with you, this is not their best DW run ever. It's nice to see average conditions sometimes. It doesn't always have to be the KZbin version. This is meant to be a contest version, so no edit's is nice. I did wonder if it would work if you did sections. So instead of getting lost in the full run. 30 seconds of contestant 1 paddle up, cut to 30 seconds of contestant 2 paddle up. Middle section comparison. End section comparison. Kelly's wave pool has shown us that when you have to remember an entire wave for 50 seconds it's very hard to judge the thing.

Great idea, I was torn as Zane is our team captain and I ride code… I gave it to Ku sorry Zane but Ku pumped a little less but maybe his bumps were just a little better. Zane hands down on drone. Did the longer boards induce just a bit more flex in your gear than your used to ? Sort of looked that way
@hydrofoiler159327 күн бұрын
Josh look like he was too scared to drown the drone so Zane made him look better with riskier flying. Or a stitch up 😂

They were some big bumps - not real peaky and makes it hard to surf cause you're going so fast and have to maintain speed to stay with them. Does go to show that as the Cypher is a beginner board it can still take you for a LONG way through your DW journey for sure! Epic Vid Josh!!

For me it was difficult to pick a winner as Zane had the best flow while Josh had the best style. I also like Josh’s line choice at the end - pushing wider on the outside the cutting back to the right through the surf before the river mouth. No question that Zane was the best drone pilot though! 😅

For me Zane won. Because all in all he stands smoother on the board, less arm shaking and the turns look a little bit more powerful. But Ku holds the turns a little longer. I like more the wider stance of Ku, but I see him more on a small Prone Board 🤙🙂
