normally do ours for 45 to 60 mins in the oven - never again ! Just tried this & they were perfect. As you say the timing depends on the size of the potato's your cooking so testing is the answer. THANK YOU so much for the enlightenment 👍👍

390° f is recommended, but I noticed cooking it at 360°f for 25 minutes helps it to not get overly brown, but cooks it all the way through to the bone. I've also used 380° f for around 20 minutes and it seems to do the job. I think 390 or 400 tends to overcook the chicken on the outside. I guess it all depends on what air fryer you're using. Experiment with the temperatures and times to get it perfect for your air fryer.

No one wanted to watch this video to see you eat dude. How about you actually show hands on cooking. How many fries did you use? Single layer? Quarter full? Did use the "bucket" insert only? Did you use the plate insert or the raised rack? Edit: after re-watching the vid, most of my questions were answered, but I honestly couldn't remember because of your diatribe of how good the fries were. The video was about twice as long as it should've been.

I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like the inside soft and fluffy. I prefer it firm, not hard but definitely firm and I can only achieve this in a deep fat fryer.

I finally worked it out, who would have thought a potato could cause so much trouble. This method worked for me, even though I attempted it a while back but I missed a step which made the difference. Step 1. Use Maris Piper potato's (UK) Step 2. Don't cut the chips so they are too thick. Step 3. Rinse them well with cold water. Step 4. Put the chips in a big enough bowl and cover the chips with water, add teaspoon of salt and then leave the chips to soak in water for 30 mins, minimum. This is so important, it releases the starch out of the potato, but do not use hot water, must be cold water from the tap is fine. Step 5. After leaving 30 mins, if you have time leave them 45 mins, but 30 mins is fine, it's really important that you pour the water away out of the bowl and then put the chips in a sieve and wash with cold, (tap water) again. Step 6. Now you really need to get the chips as dry as you can, don't use kitchen roll yet because you will use loads of it, instead put the chips onto a clean tea towel ideally a thick towel which needs to soak the water from the chips, keep patting and then after a good shake and pat, grab a handful and pat them down with kitchen roll. Step 7. With the chips as dry as you get them, put all the chips into a dry bowl, then add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and then either with a spoon or hands mix the oil with the chips to give it an even coating. Some people add more salt it isn't necessary. But if you wanted to add spices then again mix it well into the bowl of chips. Step 8. Most air fryers have a warm up setting, mine doesn't but just set the air fryer to 200c and set the timer for 30mins. Let's the air fryer heat up, shouldn't take long. Step 9. Once the air fryer has heated up place the chips into the trays, try not to stack the chips to high, but as long as air gets around them plus you will shake them during cooking. Reset the timer for 30 mins. Step 10. After less than half way the air fryer will bleep for you to shake the chips, shake them well and spread them evenly, do not add any oil or salt. Step 11. The air fryer will bleep again usually 5 mins to go to shake them. Now depending how many there are plus how well they are cooking, if they are looking a nice golden brown or even rustic looking then after 5 more mins they should be done. If however they still look white/yellow and taste raw, extend the time by 10 mins. Step 12. After they are ready give them a final shake and put them in a bowl with some kitchen roll in the bottom to soak up any oil. Step 13. Serve and eat away. Lastly timings can be adjusted depending on size of your air fryer, how much chips you cut and the size of the chip. But the most important steps are to soak the potato for 30 mins or more and to dry them as best as you can, also Maris Piper work better Hope this helps

They look amazing, really nice. However it isn't practical for a family of 4, this is one of the negative things about air fryers, I have a 9L (4.5L - 2 trays) and I have tried everyway possible to cook enough chips for the four of us. I have rinsed the chips, dried them, spray with oil, salt, then I have tried par boiling the chips, dry them, no oil, salt, then soak the chips for an hour, dry them spray oil, salt and set it for 38 mins on 200 degrees, shake them two or three times and after 28 mins they are either still raw, or crispy on the outside but raw in the middle. Everyone who does air fry chips on You Tube gets them just right but they literally cook a dozen chips. So by my calculations all four of us will be eating at different times, that's not to mention what else we are cooking so for example we had frozen fish, I would have to cook the fish at different times. What's the point in that, why make a large 9L air fryer that can only cook a dozen chips, its just not practical and your not saving electric as by the time I have cooked four lots of chips, four different times for the fish, I haven't saved any money on the energy used, in fact I have used more. I am really beginning to regret buying an air fryer, I might have to return it as I cannot see the benefit for a family, for one person, great, but for a family, no chance, and the crazy thing is a 9L air fryer is supposed to feed a family of 8, wow, how??...Also I remembered someone suggested cooking on a lower temp for longer, I tried it and what I got was a crispy skin but nothing in the middle as the longer heat literally dried up he potato in the middle.
