As I get older, 66 now, the more sentimental I seem to get. This song touches my heart and reads my soul. It makes me think of my life. The relationships I had and the ones I let slip away. The loves I let go because I was too young to understand what true love was. However, once found, there is no other feeling like it. Roy really knew how to play with our heart strings with this song. It not only makes me cry, but it makes me reminisce when I'm feeling fragile, about what could have been, what maybe should have been, and whether it would have made a difference anyway... ❤🫂😢

I hope this doesn’t come across as crass and/or racist! I have might what might be a touchy question. Back in 1987 I had a guitar teacher known as the best blues player in Canada at the time, he taught me a lot of Memphis soul and old R&B in general, and he did know a lot of behind-the-scenes trivia for Stax records at least, and speaking of this song he gave me a little tidbit that I’ve always wondered about. He said “da dew run” was a colloquialism in African American vernacular that basically equated to the male version of Wayne’s World’s “schwinggg!”, I’ll let ya fill in the blanks. Was he just having a go at me (as he very often did), or is there any truth to this? It would seem to fit with the rest of the song lyrics, so is it just nonsense vocal filler, or was it describing a female bodily process? Again, no offence to any groups intended!!!

This all seems so long ago now. I've not heard them get mentioned for years on British TV. None of the Gerry Anderson animations did much for me, as a kid in the 70's. Though I wasn't ever in to science fiction, space stuff. I don't like Star Wars, Blake 7 or anything like that. It's never been my thing.
