This is actually not too bad of a run. You’re just stuttering a little bit. I wouldn’t say you completely jacked it up like you said you did on Facebook. It could just be a little more flow to it.

On the last stage, did you pull a magazine and hold it in your hand, before your reload? Hard to see in the video.
@AdvancedPistolCoaching8 ай бұрын
Yup! “Staging” has been removed from the rulebook, and I checked with the CSO during stage brief to make sure a penalty would not be given.
@aaronbrulc32768 ай бұрын
@@AdvancedPistolCoaching FYI, in the future i'd recommend not doing that. Especially at a match where the staff know IDPA rules. You are correct that staging is no longer in the rules. However, 3.4.2.1 withdrawing a magazine is defined as initiating a reload. And 2.2.4.5 specifically states a discharge during a reload is a match DQ. The rules clearly define when the reload is completed. So once you pull the magazine your reload has begun. Folks can argue about these rules, but its black and white.
@AdvancedPistolCoaching8 ай бұрын
@@aaronbrulc3276 like many other IDPA rules, that rule is very vague. It’s obvious I did not ND while reloading, which is what that rule is intended for, so essentially it’s up to the SO’s interpretation of the rule.
@aaronbrulc32768 ай бұрын
@@AdvancedPistolCoaching Not trying to argue here, but the rule isn't vague at all. And says nothing about an ND. It says discharge during a reload. And there is a clear concise definition of how a reload starts, and a clearly defined conclusion to a reload. I didn't write the rule, only telling you what the written rules say. It has nothing to do with an SO or CSO interpretation. It is clearly written. Ultimately the MD approves all DQs. Just mentioning it to you, because it falls within those written rules. Good luck.

If you want some advice, it looks like you got a little too close to muzzling your right leg on the first seated draw. Couldn't actually tell from the camera angle though. I would also get used to reloading without having your muzzle pointed over the berm. A lot of ranges have a local rule on that.
@AdvancedPistolCoaching10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Respectfully, I disagree with both your points... Regarding the seated draw, here's the IDPA rule for your reference. "2.2.1.1 Exception: A match Disqualification is not applicable for sweeping of the shooter’s own body below the belt while removing the firearm from the holster or holstering of the firearm, provided that the shooter’s trigger finger is clearly outside of the trigger guard." As far as the muzzle on the reload, I have shot many matches at many different ranges and I have never heard of any of them having a rule about the muzzle not going above a berm during a reload. Not only that, keeping your muzzle flat during a reload is very slow and unproductive. My reloads are safe and fast, so I won't be changing anything!

Is there a way around magazine limits? Moving to Ca soon (not by choice) and concerned about this? Is there a big shooting competition culture there? Would love to chat if you have some time.
@AdvancedPistolCoaching10 ай бұрын
The competitive shooting community here in SoCal us huge! Matches (USPSA and IDPA) every weekend year round, at multiple locations. I would just grab as many magazines as you can before you move here. They are not illegal to own, we just can't acquire them.
@LeelandOC10 ай бұрын
The stage with the hexagon shaped shooting area was a fun design, especially within the constraints of that bay. We have a bay at our club where I think I'll try that. Some nice movement in this and the multiple camera angles made it interesting to watch. That one handed makeup at :53... lol. we've all had that moment. :)
