That is clay and gypsum mixed with the sandstone creating those little pockets of extremely brittle mineral that resembles the texture of sand. Edit: The finer minerals in the sandstone like Kaolinite or Chlorite are exposed to liquids or moisture during its formation period. - The reason it looks like rock but breaks like sand is because of the silica present from the sandstone.

The texture of the black spots is more like clay than sand. Everything around it is sandstone but if you look close you can see there’s a redness to the sandstone that the black spots are embedded in. Does that mean anything?

@@BuildABunker the ring is a type of red quarts. In sandstone where there is silica cement present, (the black sandy/clay stuff), the quartz grains are attached to this, which creates a rim around the quartz grain called overgrowth Edit: The other “reddish” patches are just fine particles of the overgrowth that mixed into the surrounding rock surface. You can likely brush a lot of it off as it’s mostly dust and surface deep.

I dont know much, but from what i saw from looking it up, it might be some type of clay or silt, either way it doesnt look to be a fossil, but i might be wrong im not a professional Also might I ask why you're building a bunker?

Isn’t it odd that it’s inside of sandstone tho? Why would there be solid rock around a softer material? I’m just building it cuz I always wanted one and I had a perfect location for it. Better to have it than not if anything happens.

I’m trying for the first time to do masonry. My neighbor is a journeyman so that helped me. Still trying to get technique down. I’ll probably get it down around the time I’m done haha.

I wonder if it could be a fossil of some sort? I know fossils are usually harder than the host stone it is found in, so maybe, maybe not?

It appears to just be stone. It’s much harder than the surrounding stone. It’s a vein through the entire area. It must be some kind of cataclysmic event or environmental change. It’s about 12 inches thick. I thought I’d be finding some fossils in all this sandstone I’ve been digging through but so far I haven’t seen any 😔

@@BuildABunkersays the guy posting videos using electronics with traceable IP address and unique device serial numbers... Do you also receive monetization from these videos? Cuz I'm pretty sure you have to go through a verification process for that as well, meaning KZbin, Google, FedGov, and a couple hundred people associated with them all likely know who you are and maybe even have your geodata as well. But you keep on being secretive whilst showing the whole world my friend. Nothing at all ironic there. 😂
@BuildABunker
@BuildABunker Жыл бұрын
@@RichardCranium321I’m not unaware that the government probably already knows about me. I don’t need to be upfront about who I am. And no these aren’t monetized. I don’t think KZbin is gonna come rob me. I’m more concerned about anyone nearby me knowing I have a safe haven in a catastrophic event.
