I wanted to get into 3D resin printing and watched a ton of reviews on the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra and they all are very positive and a lot of people say it's perfect for beginners like me I pulled the trigger and ordered 1 from Amazon today along with some resin, gloves and a Respirator and safety glasses

Nice method. I've been doing this for 2 years now (lots of trial and error!), i needed very shiny moulds because i cast in epoxy resin and wanted to retain the high-gloss look, so to smooth the prints and make them shiny i coated them in UV crafting resin which cures really quickly and gives a very shiny finish. I'm experimenting now with using silk PLA to cut down production time even more. Liked and subbed :)

I do that now as well 👌 the quality is unmatched 😍 I didn’t think of using silk pla to retain the shine, I’ll have to give that a go 🤔

@@nicolebalian I just completed my first silk PLA test, vertical walls are nice and shiny but horizontal flat surfaces a little dull, which is fine for my coaster sets but may not be optimal for other products. Curved surfaces up to 90 degrees were fine too so i assume any slope angle will still be shiny, but probably on a gradient less and less as the angle approaches 90.

But horizontal planes are still matte, i've only tested to 45 degrees from flat and it's still silky.

They’re very similar in terms of quality. I personally can’t see a difference. I prefer the size of the buildplate on the Saturn

@@ImTheDIYArchitect if you have access to a resin printer that will create a smooth finish. If you’re sticking with filament, try painting on epoxy resin, it smooths the layer lines for me
