Any chance you will have Pallet Forks for the loader. While not a full blow fork lift, I could see the utility of having an electric tractor like this at the VA clinics Ive worked at. The Engineering dept could use it to move trailers around campus, they could use the bucket for cleaning up downed tree limbs and moving items into dumpsters as well as moving gravel in our overflow gravel parking lots. Then having the forks would be a nice addition to moving pallets of lighter material....which is what they mostly load and load at the dock. We currently have 3 diesel forklifts...that jus sit in the parking lot, and dont see much use. I bet you could sell a lot of these tractors to VA clinics around the united states as a tool to use on campus....but especially in CA. Like the VA Clinic in Martinez CA, They maintain a large Gravel parking lot, as well as the rest of their campus and have a loading dock.

Fast forward to February 2024, the Soletrac CEO in this video Mani Iyer was laid off, when you call the phone at Solectrac you get no answer, nor does anyone reply to emails. It appears Soletrac is out of business, and Soletrac tractor buyers warranty, dealer support, and access to repair and maintence parts has vanished.

It will take 3 lifetimes to offset his carbon footprint from buying the tractor and the solar panels. The tractor and solar panels were not built and transported for free - something had to move it from place to place. The engineers, salesman, drivers, and others specifically involved in the design, manufacturing, and delivering of the product all had to use fossil fuels in order to make one tractor that may last 10 years.

Good video. Well done. I've had my e25 for over a year now, through two Wisconsin winters, and it's been trouble-free. Plows snow like a boss, and it's handy around the farm all summer. It's got more than enough battery for me, including in the winter. I plug it into a 110-volt outlet at night, and the next day the battery is full. Awesome. No gas cans. No oil changes. No pans of waste oil. No oil stains in the shed. No exhaust fumes. No hearing protection. No idling engine rattling away while I'm working. The loader has worked well for me, too. I'd love it if they could get rid of the hydraulics, but maybe electric actuators aren't there yet. I'll never go back to a gas/diesel engine.

Confirming as of at least Jul-2023 Solectrac is responding to direct questions about warranty with referral to a local dealer; The local dealer here has confirmed that new e25G for sale have been retrofitted with the 12Vdc strategy as shown in this video and it is expected there will be a retrofit available for customers' existing e25G in 4 to 6 weeks time.

So I have to leave the key with the tractor while it charges? Really? Why on earth would that sound like a good idea? I want to go electric but the little things like this are just killing it
@timothyhuber5322
@timothyhuber5322 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I’ve got an early release that has a 12v kill switch that failed. Turning that off/on is the reset for the compute circuit which occasionally freezes or won’t show any info on the display. I’d also prefer a more mechanically feeling FNR switch.
@ChitFromChinola

I keep mine in a locked shed for charging, anyway, so I never really thought about it. It would be useful to have a charge/run switch that was separate from the key switch.
@niceride
@niceride Жыл бұрын
How it is for the earlier revision of this model is you engage the 12vdc disco, turn on the key switch, begin charging, and then you can turn off the key switch and remove the key. Some basic electronics background and you can modify this to a turnkey workaround however you want, but it is difficult and expensive for the integrator (Solectrac) to certify something new as that and the whole supply chain thing is prohibitive too. Why would you let a small thing like a key switch stop you from achieving your dreams? 😛

Have you considered steer by wire technology? Seems a bit inefficient to have a power hungry (plus the annoying whine) hydraulic pump running just for the steering when you could save on energy (and noise) by using steer by wire and a linear actuator?

So, you either spend a bunch of money heating up an outbuilding or garage in the winter OR load it on a Trailer and drive south to charge OR replace your front door of the house with a garage door to get it in the house. there are SO MANY variables to Electric no one is talking about, and they are not talking for a reason. At the end of the day, I personally would only want a diesel tractor. Although. Here and not on my property. What I love about my battery lawn care equipment. I can take care of my yard at 2 a.m., and no one knows. My property is 11.5 acres. Although I have neighbors close. I love working outside at night. 0:08 So it's no good in the winter in cold climates?
@niceride
@niceride 2 жыл бұрын
LiFePO4 battery chemistry degrades quickly if recharged at full current rate and temperatures below freezing. Discharge is not so harmful at low current rate and below freezing temperatures, and warms up the battery as it is being used. If charging begins while the battery is above freezing then it will remain above freezing during the charging process. The workflow in a frozen environment is to recharge immediately after use if the battery state of charge is 20-30% or less. LiFePO4 battery chemistry is reasonably tolerant of cold stored temperatures if state of charge is 60-80%. What is not mentioned in this video is the 12V battery, or how it is maintained.
@SolectracElectricTractors

When the e25 is charged, it can be safely operated between -10 °C (14 °F) and 55 °C (131 °F). The battery temperature must be between 0°C (32°F) and 40°C (104°F) to charge. More Info: go.solectrac.com/cold-weather-faq

Wouldn't it be better to have a small trickle charger that plugs into a standard 120v wall receptacle that would constantly monitor and charge the battery as needed, such as the Deltran Battery Tenders for automotive batteries? I can picture some of these tractors being stored in areas with non-ideal temperatures, so I would imagine having some charge be able to go into the onboard monitoring systems could help to extend the life of the batteries?
