+Ahad Mahootchi, MD Dear Dr. Mahootchi, In my hands there is a definite difference in the results with Ab Externo canaloplasty with suture tensioning and Ab Interno without the placement of a proline suture stent. The stent allows me to drop the intraocular pressure by an additional 20%. Do not yet have enough long-term data to comment on the longevity of procedure with and without suture stent, but my gut feeling is that the stent will give longer stability of intraocular pressure lowering. An additional pearl to those performing Ab interno Canaloplasty, place a 10-0 nylon suture to close the primary entry corneal wound at the end of the case and hydrate the paracentesis track. This will avoid post-operative hypotony and as a corollary in many cases less postoperative hyphema. Dr. Almallah
