I also would look into cerusing. Now you can paint and pull up grains for beautiful looks.

If going to flatten with a planar you will need a sled that is flat or it will push the board down. Or use a jointer to flatten.

You have the wrong door, your door is 1” 3/4 and the doog door is 1 inch, i was about to install one and realized this is for an aluminum door not a vinyl door

I was going to buy a butcher block (done it before) but they are like $400. This would be like $30 (+ legs and stuff). I thin kit looks just as good really. Maybe I will go this route! I am just bad at pocket holes it always seems to split the board or I get the angle wrong or something.

Just bought a metabones adaptor after the salesperson said the autofocus is really good and come a long way since the early models. WRONG! Auto focus is cactus, although I am testing in my lowish light office. Maybe it's better in better lighting. I hope so, otherwise this will only be good with non-moving subjects, shot films docos etc but def won't be good in run and gun scenarios. I will love the look of the glass in the situations where it works, otherwise, it will stay in the bag, unfortunately.

Its not unusual to find nice boards like this but generally the humidity level will make your desk crack and warp by the time it scales with the humidity of your home :(

I learned a trick to keep sanding smooth: draw on the surface with a carpenter pencil, just lines covering the surface and sand the pencil lines off. Then you're not spending too much time in one spot going too deep.

The video is not new, but the problem continues nowadays. I made the same mistake. I tested the Metabones Mark V (firmware updated) with Canon 50mm 1.2 L, 24-70mm 2.8 L, 70-200mm L, 100mm 2.8 L, 17-40mm L using a FX3. The focus behavior is pretty precisely the same as you show in the video. I totally agree with you. In photography mode, it is less bad. Waste of money if the intention is video use. I hope to resell and buy some glass from Sony.
