IMO, this commercial demonstrates that the best parodies come from people with a genuine love for the source material (or at least familiarity with it.) The fake foreign film clip is actually a dead on parody of Fellini's _La Strada_-- which makes the ad even funnier for viewers who have seen the original. (That said, Scorcese did raise valid points when he criticized the ad.)

This is still pretty much the attitude of the response I get, when I show A24 and foreign films to my relatives. Confined to their little action movies, they are missing out on movies with varying expressions of human life.

Exactly! The straight up ignorance to shun off something because you have to read subtitles. At least watch for half an hour something and then turn it off. Anything "weird" or "abnormal" immediately is pushed aside. I went to film school and now work in the industry so I know I'm a little different, but I know so many people who "love" movies but they're lying to everyone and themselves. They love AMERICAN movies. To say you love movies but you wont branch out to other cultures is just pathetic.
