They do not appear to belong to the same kind of bird. There is an atlas you can google to find out exactly what they are. You can say the size, color and so forth.

Actually, those are Red Tailed Hawk feathers, I simply just typed in Red Tailed Hawk feather on the Google images, and those colors appear to match! Nice job!

Hi Jordan, I'm sorry I hardly log onto this account and missed your comment. I'm not much of an expert on sexing these critters. I just let them grow up and I usually have half dozen chicks at a time. The comb on the male grows pretty quick, but it's easier to tell when there is a female sibling. You might try looking for info on how to sex chickens. I've yet to research this and like I said, I just let 'em grow and find out later. Wish I could be of more help and again, sorry I missed your comment!

This was filmed on 6/20 (Thursday Night) between 10-11 pm. I hope that's helpful. We prolly had another one Saturday too..can't recall.

If you saw any hawk in a dense forest, it would have to be a Red Shouldered Hawk, since they have broad wings. It could be a Coopers Hawk, but my best bets are on the Red Shouldered Hawk.

There is a small pond to the left, out of frame, and slightly behind the bird. Everywhere else, and even above the bird, is dense and overgrown. If it is a Coopers Hawk, then it only has one, thin route out of there and I'm surprised it would box itself in like that. Thanks for your help! I'm learning a lot...
