@@michaelsutherland9180 not yet summer got derailed a little bit. Had to start dialysis. I’m thinking about starting with pole spring first. Doing individual install videos with a little bit of riding starting my season around August. Purchasing a jet pilot wetsuit and running some videos through November. Probably do jet trim on last installs because I want to find the graphics I like then match the mats and grips. I’m not waterproof right now because of dialysis port in chest. I have to wait on my fistula in my arm to heal before I’ll be waterproof. I hope to do this if all goes well.

Why no padding on the top of the side rails!? I busted my shin bad once on a 550 right where the padding stopped, the old Superjet's rubber rail padding is genius.

I think for fit and finish and my ability I’d go with the Riva plate. Stock ride plate isn’t bad though. I’ve thought more about the intake grate. I’d also choose Riva due to fit and finish. You only gonna be able to mod this Superjet so much. I’d stay minimal and then look to Kommander when you really wanna step up the game.

Yeah, one step at a time for me I’ve been racing x2s for many years. I just got a 24 SJ To build into a race ski and get back on the course. Looks like they can get pretty dialed with all the bolt ons and an ECU tune

Man, Im sitting at my desk watching your videos. I havent ridden a stand up in 31 years. Im 53 now but rode the heck out of them from 14-22 years old. My neighbor always had some and we lived on the lake so we rode everyday it seemed like. I think they were 440,550 and 650's over the years. I never rode a superjet. How is the stability compared to the old 440/550's? Are the new ones as squirelly? lol. Im seriously thinking about getting one.

They are a lot more stable but still tricky to get use to. Sxr is easy but got killer engine. TR1 that Superjet has is no slouch. I have a stability video check it out. I weight between 185-190 and 6’0 tall. Thanks for watching !

So your description applies to the previous 2 stroke Superjet and SXR as well. The superjet 701 is way more playful and jumps waves better and feels more like a snowboard in a way. SXR 800 is heavier feeling, more power and corners hard. I have both , but I ride the Superjet more, and I just bought a 4 stroke Superjet because it harks to the previous fun factor. I agree they are in a different class totally. Both of them are awesome in different ways and its good that they are so we can choose!

Question on the newer bikes. With my old 750 I had to buy the following just to ride fast as hell. New ride plate, new intake, new stainless steel prop, new bars, new pole, new pull throttle, new pipe, etc. ... or the bike sucked, especially in choppy waters. Does that still hold true with the newer bikes? At almost 60 I'm not looking to ride as fast as I did 25 years ago, but also not looking to ride a turd either.
@Phoenix37csp
@Phoenix37csp 4 ай бұрын
i own both, love them both, really depends on what a rider is looking for, SXR is for buoys, and not much else, where the superjet is more jack of all trades, just depends on what you plan on using it for. If i want to go fast, sxr, if i'm just out to freeride, or typical hooligan activities, i grab the superjet. I put a lot of riders on my skis, new or newer riders prefer the superjet, but intermediate and experienced riders like the SXR

would you recommend this ski for trick riding, submarine or is to heavy and cumbersome?
@JetSkiJockey
@JetSkiJockey 6 ай бұрын
You can do some tricks on it but it’s definitely harder than the older 2 stroke models. Tail spin is harder to pull off and I’ve not seen anyone sub one. However I did see a Japanese rider barrel roll the ski. Just depends on what you wanna do. The new Superjet is extremely dependable machine but if I was hardcore freestyle I’d look to a Krash Industries ski or Rickter Ski. Don’t know what you’re giving up in dependability though. Hope this helps.

Hey nice riding! I have a question. I’m a newer rider. I went to Hatfield McCoy last year on my KLX 300r. When you’re going down hills are you breaking with front break at all or just rear break? I had some trouble with this I would put my bike in 2nd gear and engine break down the hill but would find myself feathering front break.
@JetSkiJockey
@JetSkiJockey 6 ай бұрын
Go light on front brake. Feather the rear. It will slide. Try to feather rear brake to keep bike straight. Work clutch as needed. But now this advice is for steep technical trails. Some of these trails are so bad I get off and walk it. Double black diamond s.
@Zackrutledge1998
@Zackrutledge1998 6 ай бұрын
@@JetSkiJockey so when going down a steep hill try not to use the front brake you recommend feathering the rear. Also, do you mainly use the rear brake. Like when just riding on a straightaway and you come to a stop will you use the rear. I’m trying to find out what brake I should be mainly using. But yep some of those trails at hatfields are inane. I wouldn’t go on the blacks I just did greens and blues.
@JetSkiJockey
@JetSkiJockey 6 ай бұрын
@@Zackrutledge1998 I use very light pressure on front brake. Keep one finger covering it. Now it can get you in a mess. Loose rocks or wet slick mud can cause you to wash out the front but I’m no expert either this is just what I do. Steady light pressure on the front modulating the pressure lightly. Same way I brake on a super sport bike on track. Referring to keeping bike straight I’m talking about feathering the rear brake. The rear is gonna slide just make sure to feather it to control the bike and keep it straight up. And if you wanna use the rear brake to stop on straight it’s ok to do that but you gonna slide. The benefit of the rear brake in that situation is you can get the bike to start turning as you’re sliding to set up for you’re corner.
@Zackrutledge1998
@Zackrutledge1998 6 ай бұрын
@@JetSkiJockey thanks for the information man. I’ll try to get better at using rear break. One reason it was hard for me to use the rear break going down them steep hills is that I was standing up on the bike going down hills. It was hard to control bike and use the rear break.. I’ll have to get better at it. Like I said I’m new to riding I only have one year experience so just trying to learn. Thanks for the information 👍🏻

Sadly the runabouts will never get back to the fun 90s skis. I would love them to make a b1 again. Even the b2. The spark is underpowered and heavier then both the b1 and b2 skis. The problem is that society is lazy and they need simplification amd if they have to work for it then they give up. I see sooo many people say they can ride my b1 and then give up and say that aint for me. Sadly people want the 3 seater thousand pound turd that they can sit on and not fall off in 4ft+ rollers amd can fish or tow a tube. Those skis to me are boring but unless i want a new stamd up thats my only option. So i build 30 year old skis instead lol.😂 building a square nose right now for my sons first stand up.

They're bringing back the real jet ski? You Ride it like you would ride a skateboard, whichever foot forward. Normal foot is left. Foot forward goofy foot is right foot forward. The front foot should be straight ahead and the back foot can be a little offset at about a 45° angle.

That’s great ! I primarily wanted to run a stock Superjet for the first year doing the videos because I wanted to see exactly what the stock ski was capable of. I’ve been paying close attention to other riders who have heavily modded the ski and as it stands right now it doesn’t look like there is a whole lot to gain modding the ski. For a guy that either has just recreationally ridden or a new guy the stock ski is enough. There is quite a big learning curve. It’s not as powerful as a SXR1500 but it’s a lot trickier to ride. I guess if I’m modding and looking for instant noticeable differences I’d change to otp steering and jet trim kit on mats. The stock steering gets in you’re pelvis when you start getting efficient turning. The stock mats will beat you up pretty good. Oh and a pole spring. 0degree bars and billet throttle with odi grips.My advice ride it til you get the feel of it before modifying. Thanks for watching and good luck !
