I recently opened an old tote of my Thomas toys for my son and started testing everything with lead test swabs. The Ertl James (3D face from around 2000) turned more red than even my 70/30 leaded solder I used as a control. Fortunately, I caught it as this video seems to be the only resource online that mentions the recall. The only other recall l've seen is for the wooden railway toys from around 2007.
