Very interesting stuff, the levels of UV you are looking at can you achieve that without taking energy off the grid? Also how do you "select" to break the sulfur bond, or do you just deal with low yield and press on?

Milbank making the only good points here. Beattie coming out with utter nonsense. First the incarnation means our sexuality is a vitally important part of who we are as humans, but the next minute her opponents are too obsessed with sex and it doesn’t matter in church. And then she goes on to be extremely reductive and vulgar about the materiality and physicality of sexual intercourse! Which is it Tina? Are bodies important and holy and vital to what it means to be human or not?!

Churches have no authority to marry anyone. They are limited to muttering their superstitious nonsense as a side show to a legal marriage between religious people. Only the state has the power to marry a couple. My wife and I were married some 10 years ago. Christianity is a cult based on deep ignorance, gullibility, fear, primitive superstition, violence and bigotry. What any christian thinks of our marriage ie entirely irrelevant. With our two young daughters, we enjoy a very high quality of life. For over 30 years, children have had strong legal protection against religious indoctrination. In common with our neighbouring countries, this has ensured that very few native born people under the age of 35 , believe in the utter nonsense of invisible sky fairies. Only some 3% of our population, usually the elderly, attend any hind of religious gathering as frequently as once monthly. Our churches sit empty other than for weddings and at Yuletide.

Rosie was hitting the nail on the head. Good for her. She is fortunate to be chaplain to one of the few remaining Anglican bishops (Alan Wilson) that have spiritual gonads. God bless and prosper him - and her. As for Christina, heaven preserve us from more centralisation and Diocesan control at the expense of the parishes which are the fundamental base and identity of the 'national' church. Kill the parishes ( as seems to be the wont of the hierarchy and general Synod) and you kill the purpose of the CofE which is to love and serve those among whom we live - locally not regionally. C seems to advocating a middle-class eclectic church that can afford to travel weekly to regional centres. Despite their beauty, (the buildings, that is) the cathedrals and the prelates are an expensive luxury and have little impact on the effectiveness of the CofE as a source of spiritual and pastoral value to the nation. As she said - hers is definitely a fantasy. My experience of 'home churches'is that they can easily breed pseudo-charismatic leadership and inward looking, censorious (of others and each other) and self-righteous folk looking for 'authentic religious experience' to enhance their lives. Not what the Gospel speaks of at all - even though St Paul had to 'make do' at the start. The joke is that we have 'Common Worship' ( a dog's dinner of liturgy and lections) and 'Common Tenure' (a means of of removing the last vestige of autonomy of parishes) and we still have no clue as to how to address the needs of the 'common people' (I do not use to the word 'common' as a pejorative term but to indicate the wide public of which I am a member as well as being a priest) C is so out of touch. Secondary (and Primary) Schools are more concentrated on final exam results and are not, on the whole, the least bit interested in the Church's dreams of interfering with their programme. The exceptions do not prove the rule. What a plonker she is! This hang-up and preoccupation with sexuality and gender is a bit boring. It is yesterdays' agenda. Again C makes a fool of herself. Vicars are called to preach the Gospel and its inclusiveness, not to promote some specific agenda be it Gay Rights or anything else. "Flexibility, beauty, justice, inclusivity" - that sounds like the Gospel. Love the comment - "The cathedrals are for the luke warm" Just so. 'Give the people sand and not bread'. The refuge for the those who want spiritual entertainment rather than hands-on commitment in faith in their immediate neighbourhood?

According to me, the English language continues to play an important role in the relevance of Shakespeare somewhere. Because English is an international language. And we know that English language literature is incomplete without Shakespeare. And Shakespeare's name came up in English education anywhere in the world. Now you may be wondering why we remember Homer, the famous poet of ancient Greece, who is no longer a poet of English literature. Most people in the world remember Homer, mainly for his two epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey and most people will answer that.
