Too bad, the costumes were probably great, but ANNA KARENINA was awol.......just a hollow clotheshorse. Shallow spectacle, lacking heart.

I have sympathy for Anna as she had never really knew the power of her own passions., as a result she dove in feet first as giddy as a girl. So many characters in this novel, so many layers. In the end it was really about Russia itself.

Great actress. Oh no, Matthew Macfadyen becomes her brother in this. I see they toning down his looks drastically - it challenging to compute while I watched it on cinema 😀 pride & prejudice is one of key role he remembered the most for henceforth; and with Keira! However, giving the cast are great and with miracle of make-up department making it all presented greatly. They also toning down Jude Law's look to match characterization on book but it is easy to digest since he and Keira has yet starring in same movie prior to Anna Karenina

Ugh, a masterpiece filmed in a pretentious art house goopy falderal. Clunky. Did it stand the test of time? Not hardly. Does it pass the smell test? Ya wouldn’t think so by keira knightly’s ever present “I just smelled a fart” stink face, expression. You don’t watch this picture and become convinced that you’re seeing Anna Karenina, you watch it and think oh look keira knightly in yet another corset, what’s the story again? They managed to make Aaron Taylor Johnson look like Young Frankenstein… I mean, I mean gene wilder.

Count Veronsky is the MOST handsome man I ever saw. However, I saw him In interviews and he was so shy, unkept looking and could barely carry or answer the interviewers questions. I still adore him. Donna B. I also heard he was a flawless dancer and the Best in the whole production.

Dying his hair blonde, (and taking it up off of his face) made him look poised and more striking. Also, prior to the filming, he had experience with folk and ballroom dancing, so his confidence comes through there. Was not personally won over by his character or portrayal of it - however many others were: good for them!

Most people don't really get the idea of the movie because they can't understand the movements and developments of the characters. I feel like people become ready to blame the production of a world-famous literary work turned in to movie adaptation. That's why you shouldn't believe in the IMDb rate. The sensation people get from a movie that is different from one another. Some movies of low IMDb rate people absolutely love more than high IMDb rate movies.

there are 800 pages in anna Karenina...not 600 and this production skipped passed most of those, just another Hollywood romp in period costume. (set brilliant, costumes brilliant, actors brilliant, love how you made trains a prominent feature,) however, the plot is completely lost... the book is about industrial encroachment in rural areas, about the role of women in 18century Russia (not just anna Karenina, but dolly and kitty ) the female characters so strong i belive they very much inspired Virginia Woolf's writing, it's about the abolition of serfdom and workers rights, it's about the futility of existence without work. it's about being part of an asphyxiating aristocratic society, about the meaning of life and our roll in that life. its about the barriers that are placed to stop us achieving .and much much more, it is not just about love .. please read anna Karenina if you want to know its true meaning

Joe Wright romanticizes the craft more than the story. So apparent in pride and prejudice and atonement too. Sometimes the depth of the characters is lost in the breadth of the visuals!
