Anyone heard about the f60 gear pop out of 2nd on manual transmission, why that might be?
@antmaxКүн бұрын
I haven't done mine because of no dipstick. I just don't like the idea of having to start, warm up the engine and check the computer multiple times. I used to do my old cars, but its a pain to get rid of the oil, you have to pay or take it to the dump and my Mini dealer has a 3 years of oil changes for $250. Probably to try and get you to have other work done. But it's cool. The Tech on your car makes a video while he does a vehicle check, shows and tells you all the things that might need to be fixed soon. In my case 3 tires are worn and 6 years old, spark plugs, battery is weak and brake pads are about half way.

Hey Gavin, Great video. My dad’s a gear head from way back and normally doesn’t touch these new motor cars. We saw your video and both think this is completely doable in my ride. I have a 2016 Countryman S all4 automatic. The shifter became locked in drive. The shaft read neutral the dash said drive. At first I thought it might need a software update now I think we are looking at this complete repair with software update. Is it about the same as your video for my Countryman?
@GavinBlaesner8 күн бұрын
@@4milesofsmiles there is a warranty extension out for the shifter now for certain vehicles. Most f chassis cars. But if yours is a 2016 countryman that is still an R60, which would not apply to this repair. Would be a different model and issue completely. I would verify which model yours is and then if it’s an F60 countryman I would call and check your local dealership to see if your car applies to the warranty extension. Vehicle needs to have “secure vehicle in park” on the dash when you are in park as well.

When doing the reset, does the oil change appear in the service manual?
@GavinBlaesner26 күн бұрын
Appear in the service manual? I guess I don't understand the question 100%. When you go to reset your oil all you are doing is resetting the time/mileage interval so you will have a notification come up again when your oil is due, according to manufacturer specs. I would recommend not waiting 10k miles or 1 year...more in the length of 6 months or 5k miles at most.
@AnonGoogleuser24 күн бұрын
@@GavinBlaesner the Mini has an electronic service book listing all the oil changes and stuff in it. During inspection the oil change would be entered and one can proof that it was done. I would like to enter my own oil changes in the service history, as many trust this history more than one just saying they did change the oil themself every year.
@GavinBlaesner23 күн бұрын
@@AnonGoogleuser When you reset the light the vehicle technically does "remeber it" but the only way to pull that would be at the dealer with OE software and even then the statistics are not very clear in ISTA. Manual book keeping or also any place that reports to carfax would be a better option id suggest.

@GavinBlaesner3 ай бұрын
@@mumbachabwe8881 Hi! Yes! I don’t dislike them, I just think they feel much too assisted for what a little sports car should feel like. Switching between driving my R56 and then manual F56’s every day as well I notice the R56 feels much more mechanical. Like I’m more in control of what the car is doing and how the clutch is working. The F56 to me feels like it’s helping you out, that is all. The other note and side to the opinion is that the Cooper S DCT is absolutely amazing. I was worried I would get bored of an automatic, thought about buying a manual, but it was just a commuting daily so I wanted something easy…Cooper S with DCT. And to note I’ve only owned maybe one other automatic car many many years ago. And WOW, I fell in love with it. The super fast shifts, the paddle feel, the burble on up and down shifts. I wish the JCW’s came with the DCTs as I think they would be a much better car, but unfortunately they don’t. The DCT I think is a better weapon to get the most out of the car. Much, much quicker with that trans.

@@GavinBlaesner, thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate it and it's helping me make a more informed decision about purchasing a manual transmission Cooper S 2019. I’ve never run into a situation where it was in question or had to deal with that, so I can’t 100% speak on that. On this car/model the only hardware keeping the steering wheel secured onto the column is the 16mm bolt. No other hardware holds the wheel to the column.
