It's strange how he returned to the old magical timbres for this one, while most of his later work has a disappointing adult-contemporary sound.

Fantastic Jam. Howard Wales always had that funk edge. His "Rendesvouz with the Sun" Album is a fantastic Fusion Album too.

I was 8 years old when this was "dropped", as they call it now (it's "released", "released", "RELEASED" !!!). My mum owned the record, and I was aware of the title, which always intrigued me, but I never played it as it was the b-side of "Wonderful Land". B-sides were usually rubbish in comparison to the A-side (IMHO) so rarely if ever got played. Last night it was a starry night, which jolted my memory of this title. so this morning I hit youtube to see if i remembered the song. When i saw the picture my mind conjured up a slow haunting ballad a la "wonderful land", and also thought that the song was about a Stockton in the US all these years.(There is a Stockton in the US but I can see from the comments that it is indeed about our wonderful Stockton on Tees! Wrong on both counts! haha! Romantic illusion dispelled!
