Awesome video and very useful. Btw, escaping is pronounced "eh·skay·ping". Also, if you want to call your channel "LFD Research", you should probably try to add more quantitative variables to your analysis. Like, put up some kind of grid (or any device which can act as a ruler) with known measurements behind the gun so you can measure exactly how FAR the end the of the barrel is oscillating (i.e. the amplitude of the oscillations) or use a Protractor or something. Obviously these are just examples, what I'm saying is that while you are doing a lot of work getting the testing setups done and filming everything, you should be collecting DATA and plotting it against time. And also collecting the data on things like how long and heavy the suppressors are and seeing how that affects things, or measuring how different loads will affect this. Even on this video, with the footage you already have here, you could, post-hoc, figure out all of this stuff that I've mentioned by using a known, reference length (such as the distance between a few slots of 1913 Rail on the handguard), or if you wanted to go by the angles of deflection in the oscillations, that would be easy to do based on the footage as well. And then you can figure out the other stuff like suppressor weight and length pretty easily and use all the variable data you have collected to actually run some analysis. And if you don't know how to do multi-variate analysis or how to properly compare different variables, then you can either use software to do a lot of it automatically or just publish it online and let some other nerds with different specialties do it for you. The power of any study is data. It's hard to get real insight from just watching the video. Sure it gives me a 'sense' of what's happening, but I had to go actually figure out the math for the suppressors that I was interested in to see if they'll work for my pencil barrel. But again, the point isn't really about this video in particular, I'm speaking generally here about any kind of study or research. Also, I'm obviously not trying to hate on you or whatever -- I'm saying this stuff and taking 10 minutes to write this because I appreciate the work you've done here and I want you to take that hard work you've done, and that you do generally, to the next level.

Thanks we are working to continue improving the data collection across all of our testing but the goal is to produce accurate data not what we hope is accurate. Our current focus is raising small children so video production comes when we can make time at the moment but we are still focused on continuing to produce new and better videos

I have a Glock 43X. The slide doesn't even come all the way back to eject the round. I took it to the range and put about 5 or 6 magazines through it. It worked fine. I got home. Took it apart. Cleaned and lube it. After that is when I starting having issues. I've tried different bullets. They all do the same. I just got this thing. It's less than 6 months old. I am NOT replacing anything. Because, how can I be sure it won't do it again when I need to use the gun?

One thing I want to add after just recieving one of these that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else: this takes up 2 rail slots instead of 1 (really more like 1.5). I had to move my optic forward one spot which is kind of annoying. Not a big deal if you just have a normal dot and that's it but I'm running an Eotech 552 *and* backup irons so rail space is extremely tight. Still worth it, just be aware of that.

Velocities listed on boxes really are a mess most won’t list the test barrel length barrel length, barrel twist rate, chamber, and barrel wear all will cause variations in muzzle velocity but the most consistent is a longer barrel typically means higher velocities until you hit the point of friction overcoming gas pressure with 223 it’s accepted that point is around 30+ inches

What surprised me is that it actually chambered and fully seated the round allowing it to be fired in the first place.
@LFDResearch3 ай бұрын
Sadly there are too many instances of this occurring in the wild like random 300blk in the middle of a 556 mag to say it isn’t possible it really comes down to bullet shape bullet crimp and how much reciprocating mass there is in each gun to determine if a 300blk will chamber or not

I did notice with the "clean" that the deposits tend to be more mixed with the coating, which tends to fall off versus lead deposits from the CCI Quiet that I've used, which are harder to just shake free (I haven't tried the semi version). The Quiet also doesn't cycle my 10/22, which means less deposits in the action, which I think makes it a bit better, at least for me.

I had the unfortunate experience several days ago.....I was at the range and loaded by accident .300 BO into my 5.56 and pulled the trigger. The magazine shrapnel hit my elbow, my arm flew back and i fell backwards off my stool and onto my knees face down. I didn't get hurt .....my pride was damaged but I wasn't hurt much. Do yourself a favor....only take one of them (5.56 or .300 BO) to the range but not both and make sure whoever is shooting with you knows which magazine to grab......The Upper was totally destroyed. The lower mag well is bulged. The BCG is so splintered it won't unlock from the lugs in the receiver extension.

Sadly with all the work I have done in the dark it’s very arguable wether it would work in the dark or not as any dark usage would involve a light and other than at distance it will be almost impossible to see the dot unless your target is 20 yards away or more

TFB TV torture tested a Bren 2, and I can't believe how it could handle a 300 B.O. round and still fully function afterward while this AR got destroyed. I'm guessing that's due to piston vs gas operation?

Pressure increase safety is more on some calibers as 9mm than others as 45acp. 9mm and 45 are opposites for pressure topics. I have also discovered when testing and chrono graphing that the bullet material, along with different powder burning rate, outside ambient temps effects pressure increase or decreases. My cast, powder coated bullets have the lowest pressures, fastest speeds compared to the copper jacketed or lubed lead. I seat my 45 200g SWC at 1.230"-1.235", while the 200g RN-FP are seated in the groove at 1.195", X-Treme FP jacketed at 1.205"; all loaded with 4.8g of IMR 700X. My 9mm 124g-135g TC, 3.8g of 700X are usually seated at 1.050". None of these loads show any pressures.
