I believe Glasgow is the gadget name for Korg Module. If you've got Module you'll find that available as an auv3 in Cubasis.

According to the Korg website, by purchasing the Korg gadget 3 for $39.95, I get 20 modules out of the 45 available. My question is: How much will it cost me to be able to obtain all 45 modules?
@SiEffen2 ай бұрын
A couple of points to bear in mind: - the Gadgets that are IAPs are all listed out on the app store so you can see if they're ones you would use or not. - Korgs big synths (iM1, iMono/Poly, iWavestation, Odyssei, Electribe Wave, Module) integrate with Gadget but aren't themselves Gadgets, although to confuse matters they have different names within Gadget (!!). You purchase these as separate apps outside of Gadget; currently only iM1, Module and Electribe Wave are auv3 (the others are IAA if you want to use them in other DAWs). These synths tend to be $30 each ($15 on sale). - It's well worth keeping an eye on the sales as Gadget itself regularly drops to half price and the IAPs drom from $15 to $10 each so you'll save a lot.

Could you record the sound directly on the ipad? Using pure upright as uv3 in a Daw? If so, does it decrease the quality of sound?
@SiEffen3 ай бұрын
Do you mean record the inbuilt sounds of the piano onto the iPad, or the sounds from Pure Upright? Assuming from Pure Upright then yes, it's very easy to record the sounds. You are using your piano to control Pure Upright so you need to load Pure Upright in a DAW or AUM as an AUv3 module and all audio from P.U. can be recorded that way. Hope that helps

Should Ravenscroft work connected directly between the piano and the app with the correct cable? You have an interface presumably to run the two apps. My iPad complies 3:33 with system requirements. My cable works with other similar apps. Pianoteq demo version for example. Good video, thank you.
@SiEffen3 ай бұрын
Hi Edward Yes it should work the same as for Pianoteq. Depending on what MIDI out options are on the piano (mine is old with 5-pin DIN sockets so needs to go through an adapter to convert to USB). So I can do MIDI out from my piano into a USB cable which plugs into the iPad (via a camera connection kit with a USB A input) and control Ravenscroft that way. Obviously the audio from Ravenscroft will sound out of the iPad rather than the piano if that makes sense.

I just got a midi keyboard so I’m new to all this. Does this mean I can just connect it to the app and it should play, for example, a Steinway sound on my keyboard instead of the built in sounds?
@SiEffen4 ай бұрын
Hi there. Sort of. Once connected, your MIDI keyboard will act as a controller for the Pianoteq app when you connect them together. The sounds produced by Pianoteq will come from the app (on your iPhone/iPad) rather than directly from any speakers on your MIDI keyboard. So if the MIDI keyboard also produces its own sounds you might want to turn the volume down on the keyboard so you just hear the sounds from the app. Hope that explains it a bit.

No AUv3 doubt, I put Marseille into my GarageBand song…Well, holy cow. iMS i was asked inside Gadget if I wanted to install that, having it already, and on exit saw the standalone hanging around! so it just IAA. good stuff. [EDIT: Just to say, IAA is an interesting one, not without benefits…IAA means in GarageBand for example, an audiowave is recorded, instead of MIDI. This is why they’ve not done away with IAA entirely, and the benefit is, you can tweak ANY parameter while playing, and the resulting sound is recorded. Some of the results are IMPOSSIBLE to replicate with MIDI/AUv3 for example, inside GB, because the automation is what is relied upon for adjusting most parameters except the two mode wheels on the left! In short, if there’s some weird tweaking you want to record, eg of VCO 1 being altered, AU MIDI plugins in GB won’t let that be recorded, but if you switch to the IAA it will record the special sounds you wanted. They are not equivalent, and it’s automation that needs to do better, to match this IAA advantage. Just my experience, mostly in GB. No MIDI in GB, I put a ‘listening’ app to see what came out or in - GB only sends MIDI start and stop! That’s yer whack in it, which is why Cubasis has an edge.] Take care all, good times.
@SiEffen10 ай бұрын
Good points. I’ve recorded some tracks with lines on ARP Odyssey in Cubasis via IAA. And it does work. But you have to freeze the performance if you want to use the synth on another part. But it’s a bit flaky and I’ve found it difficult to rely on in a live set. Hopefully the synths will be updated to support AUv3 fairly soon 🤞

@SiEffen11 ай бұрын
If your Yahama is a sound source itself then I'm presuming it's making a sound out in the room whilst it's playing the app within your iPad? If that's the case the easiest thing to do is turn down your Yamaha volume (there may be a setting on the device to silence the keyboard but the volume control would be easier!) so you can only hear the iPad.

Some devs make their iOS apps completely universal across to the Mac but not all. I've had a few AUv3 music apps that will install on the M1 Mac (via the App Store on the Mac) but whilst they will run as standalone I can't get them working in Logic. Thanks, Si. I noticed some of this as well. At least some of separate Korg apps - that you purchase as stand-alone apps that then show up as differently-named apps in Gadget -- they do show up as IAA options in AUM, for example. Not perfect, not an improvement, but the base app is presumably based on an IAA framework (I guess). Howevter I can't seem to find some of the other apps, like Montreal, Alexandria, and Firenze as AUv3 options, either. Still, it's a pretty amazing free upgrade.

Yes I've used them as IAA in the past but it's not idea especially when trying to multitrack stuff in another DAW as you can only have one instance open at a time, then freeze the audio and do the next one, hoping it doesn't fall over at every step. It will be a great day when all are offered as AUv3 though as they're some of the more iconic synths! Thanks for watching!

@@SiEffen it requires them to fully ‘rewrite’ those older IAA apps to become AUv3 from what i read other developers write about the process.
