Born and grew up at Springhurst & Jameson Ave's the EX was a huge part of my summers . My birthday was at the end of Aug. so I turned 13 that year . I would have gone to the Hockey Hall Of Fame several times that summer to watch the replay of the Stanly Cup Finals that they used to show each year upstairs { that hardly anyone knew about } and watch my beloved Leafs win their 3rd straight Cup . I now live in Swansea , not far from where I grew up but Toronto is barely recognizable from the peaceful law-abiding place where I grew up . But the fond memories are many , if somewhat bittersweet .

In 1993 I was 23yrs old and can vividly recall hanging w/my friends, just like this at an old Victorian-style house turned into 3-4 small apartments that went for $75-$150 per month. I recall arguing my case for why In Utero was my favorite Nirvana album to date with the super-excellent distortion of Kurts guitars combined w/Grohl's bombastic, big sound on the kit plus the sublime introspection of Pennyroyal Tea made for a Zeppelin of the 90s thing & how awesome that was. I even noted to my bros that they put specific Bass & Treble settings in the "liner notes" for playback in your tape deck for optimum listening experience. I was probably definitely going on about looking forward to Soundgarden's next album because theyre my favorite band of all time. I was running 2 / 3-men crews pressure washing Coca-Cola trucks at 6 different Coke warehouses and Nashville, TN's bottling plant making enough bank to be able to go to the excellent "music shops" in Mid-Tennessee every Saturday & score sweet deals on tapes & CDs which I still listen to today.

I was at the air show back in the 60s...not sure what year?..the Blue Angels from the U.S. were doing their part of the show..one of them was doing a barrel roll to close to the water ..caught a wingtip an that was it for the poor guy..they then flew by us in the missing man formation..sad to see

I was 18 in 93. What’s up with so many millennials having dough boy faces? It seems to be a real pattern. Plus, the not sounding off when they speak. The messy hair is also a thing. We used to wear hats to cover that up.

I was 13 in 93. Listening to sonic youth, crass, skinny puppy, boredoms, gorilla biscuits etc. I hit the jackpot with my 17 year old best friend living next door. He had a grip of Metal Maniacs magazines and great taste in indie music as well. Plus a Datsun 280 so we were mobile. He took me to my first show too. SLAYER!

I turned 8 that summer so there wasn't partying for me lol, but that time was still pretty amazing. Other than playing outside, videogames and movies pretty much dominated. That summer was all about street fighter 2, Sonic, Splatter House 2 and seeing Just One Of The Guys, Don't Tell Mom The babysitter's Dead and The Last Dragon pretty much on repeat on HBO haha. Then watch random horror movies on Rhonda's Up All Night on USA 🤣. This was after a day at the pool and riding bikes. Don't let people around my age say that we didn't play video games or do all that when we were younger, we certainly did. We just knew how to balance.

Found your channel via the 90's footage. All of the social things I had around prior to the mid 2000's are beyond gone now. My good friends do exist but we are all skattared across the country. Anyway i'm glad to have found your page. Keep telling the honest truth.

I was 17 in '93. Honestly, we thought it was the worst time to be alive. The "real" scene was past, the real counterculture was past, people were more wild and free in the past. But looking back now, it was the freest we'd ever be. Many didn't live through it. Many were broken by it. But I think we were the last generation to seek and love freedom.

I wasn't even born yet - 3 more years - 1967! Pictures of me in a baby carriage at Center Island - Watching this videos just makes me wonder where the time went.

Thanks for posting this; I was at the '64 CNE as a 6 year old. Back in the day, when for most families in our neighbourhood, a summer vacation away from home was practically unheard of, our annual trip to the CNE was a big deal. So the family (3 kids) and "Gramma" hopped into the old Austin Cambridge and headed up the 401 to Toronto from Galt (now Cambridge). We always parked somewhere under the Gardiner Expressway. And since my father was ex-RAF and an instructor at the local Air Cadet Sqn., we visited during the air show weekend. The RCAF in those days always put on a big show, a small part (a CF-101 Voodoo flypast, the C-130B with JATO demonstration, the T-33 Red Knight, and I believe the prototype DHC-5 Buffalo) being shown in the Airshow segment. I still have memories of the Argus flyby with the bomb bay doors open and the Flying Boxcar (which the Hercules eventually replaced), with it's distinctive 2 boom tail. One other trivial fact about the CNE '64, is that the Avro Lancaster (FM-104), that ended up sitting on the plinth outside the Prince's Gate for decades, was actually on display somewhere inside the CNE grounds, sitting on its landing gear. As a little tyke, I remember asking myself how could they have got this aircraft into the park; how could it fly in? Of course, years later, that mystery was solved. Thanks for the memories.

I loathed people like this in 1993. I had already gotten out of the military by this time, and thought people like this were an embarrassment to the human race. Now I just feel pity for them.

There was so much spontaneity, and people-driven interactions. People thrived off their relationships and one another and not an algorithm-controlled device fed by social media and outliers that have no impact on your immediate life...like a friend does.
