WOW That's God right there; the plant, the wasps flying around, You - propagating and promoting both, that's God. But people freak out, don't want to hear that, so Good Job. Good job. That's incredible <3

Is it important to have lots of light? I have a daylight basement but there is a deck outside so no direct southern light.
@stevenkristoph6993Ай бұрын
@rangerswife2176 If propagating in the fall or winter when the daylength and sun's intensity are reduced, providing supplemental light would be helpful. Since I have heated greenhouses that receive maximum light, even in winter, I don't need to supplement.

As told to me, Pete McNees was a avid native azalea gardener from the Tuscumbia, AL area. The original scrub grew in his yard and has since died. Several of his azalea friends were fortunate to have gotten cuttings from the original plant before it died.

nice, but would not it be better to break the domancy? I am not familiar with this specific seed but most seeds will germinate if you put water, heat, cold, scarring the hard shell untill you reach the inne part/embryo (could be a bit deep depending on the seed) or using a combination of these techniques I know you have many seeds to work on but i am confident that it would not take 2-3 weeks at most, which is basically 2-3 years of difference, which could be converted on actual plant growth Again, i am not trying to look smart or send you any hate, i just think 3 years is way way too long, and if there is a possibility i would definitely try

Subscribed to see how this goes. My great uncle used to propagate Stewartia Malecodenron on our family farm. I hope to bring that back one day. They’re some of the most beautiful plants I’ve ever seen. Maybe that’s just my heart strings tugging at me because he used to take me around the farm on tours and tell me all about all kinds of plants. He was especially fond of his stewartia as this variety was so hard to find and propagate.

I would love to have some seedlings to establish in my Woodland garden in Central Massachusetts. Did you use any GA to help them break dormancy faster?
@stevenkristoph69936 ай бұрын
@thomasbennetttommy_mcnasty2020 I let the seed go through its normal stratification. Cold then warm. Seed comes up the second year. Not sure if GA will have an effect. To my knowledge, no research on that species.

Deer do not have access to this plant. In the wild, if there are no other options they will eat the succulent stems. All the native Azaleas are worth growing and worth protecting.
