Nu in Spanje. Al die tijd heb ik hout op de plank liggen voor vier archtops, maar nog steeds niets mee gedaan. Jouw video inspireert enorm! Dankje.

@meij008 with all due respect, sir. You are robbing the world of your art. Just this video alone was so satisfying I had to have a cigarette after watching. But those guitars, built with that extremely humble approach to the craft as you shows, is just incredible to watch. Handmade spruce arctop with shellac finish alone seems like grail-factor in any acustic guitar. And all that gorgeous bindings all over. Amazing job, impressive patience and a steady hand for sure. Nothing but respect from me, a fellow guitarist and hobby woodworker.

Got to admit, I had not expected the idea of a cyanoacrylate finish! That's either absolutely genius or complete madness but given the final result, I mean...

I realize that I'm dragging this up from the depths, but is there a reason you filed the nut slots deeper, rather than just popping the nut off and sanding the bottom down, while keeping the original slots? Your final result is beautiful, BTW. Just curious why you chose the one way over the other.
@TheBaconStrip8 ай бұрын
I was wondering that same thing about the filing of the slots in the nut. I figured that it could be so flat-wound strings could be used that were a large diameter. Dang if I could figure it out.

Wow! What patience, precision and mastery! I wonder how long it takes to build such a guitar. I know that when the passion is there, time doesn't count but here, on your job, there must be many hours! Archtop guitars are without a doubt the most difficult to make. To the acoustic guitar violin making technique, she adds the techniques of making electric guitars or vice versa 🤔😉

So cool. Great job. I'm a musician and woodworker, but I have yet to build a guitar, but have always wanted to. I haven't ordered any plans yet, but do the plans specify things like drill depth for each area of the body to create the countour?

I'm just trying this, I've already leveled the fretboard, just a couple of questions: How long shoud be waited in between applying superglue layers? , should be sanded after the 5th super glue layer and then sanded over every additional layer or just after the very final layer as the video implies? What's the product for doing the final hand buffing? Thanks for all the help! This video really made me go for it!
@meij00811 ай бұрын
Hi, to be sure the glue is fully cured wait about 24 hours between layers. Light sand between every layer after the 5th. After the last layer I wet sand with successively finer sandpaper pads (600 - 3000 grid). I used Meguiar's Plast-X Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish to buff.

@@meij008 Thanks to your video I succeeded going fretless on my bass, the result was quite satisfactory though not as pristine as your marvelous work (I may post somewhere what I ended up with). Instrument plays and sounds awesome. However my only concern is that just a week after playing with it, roundwound strings have started to leave a mark on the finish, wonder whether that's pretty normal, or I just did a bad job. Thanks for all, I appreciate your helpful video.

Hi Bert! Congratulations for you extraordinary work! So masterfully made! I have a couple of questions: 1- how do you finish your headstocks, once you have done with the inlays? Do they allow them to apply any finish without staining the inlay material, or you leave the headstock and its inlays just sanded and natural? 2- any advice for the best pickups for these kind of guitars? Thank you very much. Best wishes!

I thought I was going to build her one for Valentine's Day but I only have one day a week so it looks like she's getting a custom guitar for Christmas.
