Well dang! He's the first person to explain that you got to keep watering transplants into pon until the roots reach the reservoir otherwise the roots dry out! Did that to my alocasia jacklyn and melo....😑

The strap leaves are the reason I got into Anthuriums! 😁 The vittarifolium I got a year and a half ago is currently working on its first berries while the leaves got to over a meter long, it is a beast! I've since gotten the pallidiflorum and wendlingeri as well, but vitta will always be my favourite. Though when grown in ambient humidity, you have to keep on top of the watering, otherwise you look at it wrong and the emergent leaf rips 😅

Nobody seems to like Anthurium gracile but I really love mine. I have several others too. They’re great.

I have a vittarifolium in leca. She's only got 3 leaves at present. Only had her since September. Do you think I could put a pot extender on and fill it with leca to keep the growing roots covered? Would that be ok. It's not really kosher to put sphagnum moss on leca.😅

Thank you for discussing Pendant Anthuriums. I did not know about them. I grow several types of the Birds Nest Anthuriums. I definitely want to find these and try growing them. I really appreciate your channel.❤

I love Alocasia but they hate me lol (variegated or not) Something about my growing conditions just doesn't work for them. So sad about it. I will admire from afar and not waste anymore money.

I just paused the video & ran to get my Ilsemanii out of the hot house...'sorry buddy didn't know I was cooking u' 😊
@carolinebaines87352 ай бұрын
I’ve killed: Frydek-I bought her for my birthday in 2023 and she was dead in less than 30 days. Ilsemanii-it was stunning but she just melted in my tent. This one hurts the most. Anthurium Marmoratum x Longissimilobum-I managed to save a piece of her but the rest of her died. Forgetii White. I’ve killed this one twice.

As always, love your content Sam 💜 There have been plenty of deaths along the way but at the moment my Vittarifolium is struggling after a repot to pon 🫣 FYI: way back when your store was above the nursery in Brunswick I bought a variegated Frydek from you. Wondering if this was a baby from your Frydek in this video 🤔

Do you allow the reservoir that you use for your alocasia regal shield living in semi-hydro to dry out before refilling the reservoir?

These are my absolute favourite videos of yours! Obviously, seeing the collections are great, but it's really fun hearing from other people in the community, what their favourite plants are, why they grow what they grow, etc. My favourite part is seeing the Australia representation as well and what's out there in our slightly removed market! 🪴

I have all of my hoya in PON. First they are in stratum , then a mix of PON tree fern, and stratum, then pure PON. The roots grow like crazy, I rinse them thoroughly once a month. No pests (have only had fungus gnats) and there was one mealie bug on a new plant, which I caught out of the box. I disinfect and report immediately. I never wait. Then they are kept separate for a few weeks. But always cleaned first before coming into my home. PON is simply amazing. I DIY mine.
