My aunt, Ollie Cleveland, owned the Alhambra Cafe at the corner of Forest and St. Antoine. She had a hotel next door, and Mr. Joe had a tobacco shop in front of the hotel. Wonder Bread was down the street. Barthwells Drug store was across the street. Mr. Otis had a gas station across the street. Paradise Bowing Alley was down the street. I could go on and on…..

It is absolutely mind blowing that we have come so far in medicine and technology that we can make Jetson type cars but childbirth is scary and traumatising. As a woman, with two children, it should be a vow for all of us women to make sure, that all women no matter what we look like or where we are from, experience the wonders not the worries of delivery. Thank God for you.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Bringing awareness to the support women need not only after delivery, but while pregnant and during labor is so important. I hope more women get to experience having a Doula and Midwife because the care they offer is unmatched ❤

This is such important work. Doulas are vital in Maternal Health. I loved that you mentioned our humanity and it's only when we can see it in ourselves that we can see it in others and that is where change can happen. Thank you for your work, your commitment, your care and love for others, your advocacy. Thank you.

You are truly planting seeds of wisdom and empowering black expectant mothers to care for themselves as naturally as possible and in doing so they are empowered to advocate for themselves. This matters greatly in decreasing the mortality in black women and babies. Say it loud good people!!
