@@ThatOneAudioGuy I did internet research and indeed it is clear from Koss's specs alone that they are two very different headphones. The drivers must be totally different. Have you ever checked out the Koss KTXPRO1? I'm going out on a limb here, but I think those are incredible headphones, ugly as all getout, but truly sound great to me. They cost LESS than $20! To me they sound very very good, and not just for the price. To me they just sound really good. I'm curious about your take on them.

I have those headphones and I have that bass guitar. I love these headphones because they only cost around $70-80 and they're light and comfortable and I've been using the same pair since 2018 which is basically unheard of. I do think while theyre not SUPER bassy I think when there is bass it's more than adequate and when there's a boom or low rumble it's surprisingly powerful, obviously nothing crazy but when artillery hits in Rising Storm 2 for example the power is pretty solid, sometimes I thought I left my subwoofer connected (used to use a 2.1 setup swapping between headphones and speakers but keeping the sub on)

I just want to say that you've been my favorite audio reviewer. There are a lot of reviewers out there with high production values and a super techincal vocabulary, but nothing quite beats a regular guy just sitting in front of web cam, casually telling you about a pair of cans. Unrelated to the video but are you ThatOneAudioGuy making the Shadow Wizard Money Gang songs? EDIT: You are!!1 I just wanted to praise the production and the beats on all those songs overall. They feel so fresh instrumentally wise. But.... I gotta be honest, I'm not really a fan of the guys rapping. They felt quite off most times, and mentioning the Shadow Wizard Money Gang a lot felt a bit cringey. Still, I see a LOT of potential in you guys. The beats and the groove are solid for me, but who knows in what else you could improve there. I'm invested.

A little late to this party, you are, lots of reviews out there for these from years ago. And they aren't really $25 cans. The original pads they come with are UNWEARABLE, they are that bad. So you're basically required to upgrade, which makes these a $50 pair of cans.

Don't complain that they look plain-jane, bud. They're less likely to walk off when your back is turned. $200 headphones LOOK like $200 headphones. Headphones that sound like $200 and look like something you bought at the dollar store don't attract thieves. And it's not about the bling anyway. As for wanting thicker pads, go to the craft store and buy a hunk of 1/8" rubber foam. Cut a couple small pieces to size and stuff them inside the existing earpads. Or get some third-party earpads.

Acoustics are not a dick measuring contest. Bigger drivers have problems, 40mm driver is always better in a small enclosure like this. Yeah, HD800 has a bigger driver, but it's a different construction. It's a doughnut that avoids some problems with it's size. All that Chinese crap would sound better with smaller drivers. Make a good driver and use proper engineering instead of putting large trash just for the sake of boasting numbers in spec sheet. Fiio recently released a model with 60mm driver and that thing is dying when playing bass. It measures more distortion than almost any other competitor. If they spent the same money on a proper driver, they'd get better result but unfortunately an average consumer doesn't understand acoustics. I wish at least influencers would do their homework and learned the principles of operation of the stuff they're talking about.

I did a major downgrade of my headphone collection when I retired. When I was making good money, I didn't think a thing of spending eleven hundred dollars on a headphone and thirteen hundred dollars on a LittleDot tube DAC/amp. But when I retired I realized I was reaching for a different headphone, depending on the type of music I was listening to. Once I found the Airmotive GR1s, I realized they gave me almost everything I needed in one single headphone and I sold off all but the GR1s. BUT..... When I watched Z review the SR80e, I decided to break my rule and buy another headphone. I discovered I absolutely loved the Grado sound. I mostly use them for my in-car or outside headphones due to how portable they are. The only reason I don't wear them more at home is because my wife complains she can hear every note, even when they are turned down. Still, I travel a lot and I find the Grados are the perfect companion. Thanks for an honest review.
