A whole set of beautiful clips and all hard-working scenes. :) Am I showing my ignorance or did 4079 have a couple of moderately serious steam leaks ???

Weren’t they worried blowing all them whistles could cause a Doc Brown style paradox and break the sky!

Wow! Great compilation, and good to hear the comparison between the whistles of the different regions and classes.

Pendennis Castle wasn't the only engine stealing the spotlight. Other steamies have shared her glory, like Britannia and Sir Nigel Gresley.

A very nice compilation! Great to see 70000 going well. It was deemed to be scrapped, as 70013 was in better condition for the National Collection, but was saved by preservationists.

Nice to see the old Coronation Class loco, powerful and great looking. reminds me of the days, when it flashed by our house atop the sunken embankment, with the firebox light reflecting across my bedroom ceiling. Days when it was great to be a child. Was always my favourite steam loco.

As someone from the US, the amount of operational steam engines that still use coal is astonishing! This is why britan is on my #1 list of places i want to railfan!

You don't film a speed event using zoom. It kills the whole effect.
Was that a diesel engine I saw pushing the train from behind? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of having a steam engine pull it in the first place? :/
@coleman73046 күн бұрын
Yes, that was a diesel at the end. The diesel is there to reduce stress on the steamer to increase mechanical longevity due to the limited availability and high price of replacement components. The diesel is only doing 25% of the work at most. It is also assurance that the steamer can make it back to the roundhouse if something goes wrong.
@robbie36124 күн бұрын
@@coleman7304 Ah okay that total sense when you put it that way, and yeah I'd rather a diesel help out a bit from behind than the steamer destroy itself from working too hard

Nice pair of steamies. It helps to be on the same side as them, less risk of being annoyingly bowled by an inconsiderate unit train.

Sadly, steam locos only allowed 75mph on the permanent way!. The class 47 at the rear is not rated for 100mph either. In any event, 100mph for a castle is pushing them a fair amount really. Magnificent good looks they have in spades though, absolute class!.

Got to see her fly through the station near Thorpe Park back in the summer of 2004. Freak chance. Just happened to be disembarking a train from Basingstoke at the time. Absolute poetry! Even a video of her doing 100mph gives me chills

I wholly agree with the title. In one shot, a stinky Class 47 was attached to the rear, but in the next one, the diesel wasn't there. Is the diesel's ghost haunting the railway line, lol?
@kristinajendesen7111Ай бұрын
What a magnificent sight with the right colour coach combination too (even if they're not all Mk1s), and no diseaseal on the back either for most of it 😊 Imagine if they had been able to catch the heyday of British steam in full colour HD.

Lets be real guys. She will NEVER do 100mph again, bc thats illegal now for scotsman to do, she can only go around 75 today, but if she ever dit it again, the railway comany wound sue the nrm for putting scotsman 100mph again, i know this is a speed up video, but is for the best that she goes around 75mph!
