I've used the 36 sq.ft. kits in two projects, both Jeep Cherokee's (XJ) '89 & '87 at different times. I knocked around to find the places where it needed to be used, but also under the rear passenger seating as that's where the shocks and leaf springs mount up to the body of the vehicle's. The roof and quarter sections, beside the floor and transmission tunnels had it installed. Kilmat is a great noise decoupler, but I also installed 4mm closed cell foam insulation (Siless) after wiping down the area's with denatured alcohol in a spray bottle as needed. While the floor was wire wheeled and cleaned, then treated with Herculiner bedliner. I suppose I should grab the GoPro and do a video for example on post up on my edu-tainment KZbin channel (not for profit). Please note that when needed the rectangles gave me basic a reference when I needed to cut it with a fillet knife and a straight edge, if/when I needed a smaller piece. The product has no smell, nor any off gassing even in the summer heat should anyone wonder on that. I do suggest two rollers, one for smaller crevices as needed and a larger one for larger area's for best application. The adhesive is really sticky, which is why I insert pieces into the doors then peel away the backing as I go to place it. Not before.

Did you put your carpet back on your jeep after you finished installing the kilmat? And if so, did you run into any fitment issues due to thickness? Thanks for the video!

I did this top to bottom in my blazer I got pictures plus I went out and got a foam layer that I just took the carpet and everything back out to put in lol once I get it in I've got the set up I'm going straight to competition and if you want you can support me I'll back you up

I love this. I have a 91 crx and that’s how bad mine is. But I also got a 3 in 1 mat that has close cell. Hope it works when I get around to it!!😂
@raider4013 ай бұрын
It’s on Amazon 3-1 sound deadening I use that in place of your moisture barrier on the door. And then I would use that as a second coat over everything and then a third layer is this vinyl closecell mat that’s just for the floor.

Why are you not using a handheld roller to press the mats down?
@kilmatsounddeadening82613 ай бұрын
Hello. A roller is necessary for proper material installation. In this video, the material is also being rolled with a roller at 2:23
@squarebodybuilder3 ай бұрын
Always scuff and paint the floor with some rust proofer and a top coat of paint "before" just laying the kilmat down. Once it's installed you will have a hard time going back and fixing any rust issues or painting the floor.

why don't you use it to around the wheel wells? I believe a lot of the sound from the road is coming from those areas and not so much the wind.
@aakudev3 ай бұрын
Yes, I see people instead of curing the area of sound origin, are doing rest of the whole car😂. And see the coverage it's adding so much dead weight too.
@sustmi7 ай бұрын
Thank you for sincere review. I was thinking about sound deadening using similar mats but it really looks like too much work for little to no effect. I might use it just for few places that resonate when knocking (doors and bottom trunk) but I won't do the full covering.
@rincam56 ай бұрын
these are only cld tiles for reducing vibrations, but you also need a layer of sound blocking and sound dampening
@aakudev3 ай бұрын
Yes buddy this is totally stupid, you need just small patches in right areas, and add closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl for noise reduction. This butyl just reduces vibrations.

What % of killmat I bought a 2017 Mercedes-benz sprinter 3.0 v6 cargo van I plan to use killmat to help get rid of that car hollow sound then insulate havelock wool before I begin the build
@kilmatsounddeadening82618 ай бұрын
Good day! To soundproof your van you will need to insulate the walls by at least 50%, the floor by 25%, the wheel wells by 100%, and the roof by 25% with Kilmat. This is approximately 4 boxes of Kilmat 80 mil 36 sqft. This is the minimum that your van needs. For our part, we recommend covering as much of the surface as possible with the sound deadener, to remove strong vibrations and metal hum.

Will this stuff stick to a rolled in bed liner on floor panel?
@kilmatsounddeadening82618 ай бұрын
Good day! If it is made of butyl material, then yes, Kilmat will stick. if it's a soft material, then it is better to remove it and apply the Kilmat onto bare metal.
