I remember years and years ago I sailed on Waverley to Inverarey and what a trimendous day it was & part of the way a helicopter joined the Waverley for round about half an hour & when we came near the pier the helicopter landed on the beach , so once the Waverley had tied up l went over to see the helicopter & the pilot took a picture of me standing beside the helicopter, so a really great day for me.

I have a happy memory of sailing on the Waverley from Glasgow in 1979. A lovely ship - the same age as me and in much better shape!

Apart from travelling on her many times on the 60s i have a very out of focus picture of her sorry state in london. Real shamr she wasnt also bought for a £1. With all the problems with the current fleet she could do some usefil work!

Great bit of film I've never seen before! I worked on her when she was barely floating at Chatham in the 80s.

How wonderful. With The Maid of the Loch restored and the Waverley operating and I believe the Queen Mary steamer being restored that will bring Scotlands' waterways more alive once more in time. Maybe there are some more steamers on a few other lochs?

Excellent video. It is great to see Waverley visit so many new ports this year. Looking forward to some sailings on the Thames and seeing the Flagship Pennant for her being the National Flagship of the Year of National Historic Ships UK.

Having seen Waverley come in to Fort William, which looked amazing, I followed her progress down towards the Bristol Channel and up and down the area 'til she returned to the Clyde. It was great to see how much she did and all the places she visited and moored at. This fim is a very welcome addition and it's good to see a small part of how it was from on board. Thank you, it's a real cheer to see her.😍😃

Don't think this will be sailing soon unfortunately. It's a scandal, that our most popular loch, has no decent tourist vessels. Just look at the steamers on the lake district. Right beside our biggest city aswell.

Can I get the blueprints for this steamer? I would like to build one in the US. I don't know what the fuel is but I would like to burn old engine oil. It is easy to get.

Excellent illustration of the combination of volunteers, project management, local companies, government funding. A true dedicated crew. Hope to see her sail again, i was on her on the Friday night Jazz Sail on the Loch in the 1960's. Terrific effort Iain.

Another superb talk. It is fantastic to see how well KC is doing. My father would have been really impressed. I remember the day well, when KC swallowed the wake of the container ship. I was crew that day and on the helm next to John.

Beautiful ship in stunning conditions, she is the jewel in the Scottish crown! I have my wonderful father to thank for taking me on this awe inspiring vessel as a boy from the Bristol Channel to Glasgow and the Clyde as well as the south coast and Thames. Love the Waverley dearly and can't wait to sail the seas on her again in 2024! ❤🤍🖤

That remaining rust makes me want to weep, but it will likely have been removed by now (end of 2023). It must have been in a dreadful state when restoration was started. Congratulations to all who share in the labour of love that this engine represents. 🙂👍

The pronunciations sound so contrived to our ears. They leave us uncertain as to what comes from the elocution lessons, and what comes from the "real" person!
