Any recommendations for clinics/providers that are either affiliated or doing similar things on the east coast?

The procedures that comprise the BioKnee program were either created or pioneered by Dr. Stone. So few surgeons are trained on these techniques or have sufficient experience for us to confidently make any recommendations. However, many patients travel to seek our specialized treatment. If you are interested in finding out how we can help you, then you may have Dr. Stone personally review your injury by arranging for a complimentary phone/virtual consultation. Would this be covered by out of state health insurance? I am in Texas but highly interested!
@stoneclinic20 сағат бұрын
Unfortunately, no. The Stone Clinic is an out-of-network provider, which means we are not contracted with any insurance companies and, therefore, do not bill insurance for our services. Contracted, or in-network providers, are only allowed to perform procedures that your insurance company has determined are the preferred method of treating your injury. The guidelines of your specific insurance policy may exclude coverage for certain procedures, even when your physician or surgeon has determined they are the best option to relieve your symptoms and provide a long-term, successful outcome. We believe your surgeon should decide the best treatment for your injury or symptoms, not your insurance company. The Stone Clinic has chosen not to contract with any insurance companies in order to have the freedom to perform the most technologically advanced orthopaedic surgery procedures available and provide an exceptional patient outcome and experience.

I had surgery this day 4 weeks ago. 7 bones fractured. My mental health is not good as I am on non weight bearing stuck in bed as my wrists started getting sore using crutches and living alone up a stairs I cant get down. Thanks for sharing your story.
@stoneclinic9 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear about your injury and the mental toll the recovery is taking on you. Mental health challenges are extremely common when recovering from injury. Many patients like yourself get stuck in a downward spiral with bedrest and sedentary life contributing further to your recovery blues. A mental healthcare professional can certainly help but we also encourage our surgery patients to safely work out "around their injury" to get all the positive benefits of exercise. You may learn about our approach by reading the article below from Dr. Stone on this topic. And the good news is that we can help you from from your home with VIRTUAL rehab sessions. Our StoneFit rehab team can design a program around your current restrictions without you ever having to face those stairs. You can make an appointment here www.stoneclinic.com/physical-therapy. Article on Injury-Related Depression: www.stoneclinic.com/blog/acl-depression-syndrome-part-2 From the article: "To fight off ACL Depression Syndrome we counsel our patients to design a challenging daily exercise program for themselves. It starts the day after injury and certainly the day after surgery. No matter which joint is hurt, it can be isolated, and the rest of the body exercised. Having a terrific trainer and physical therapist helps introduce you to novel ways to drive up your heart rate, strengthen your core, and mobilize your entire body. Getting in a great sweat workout raises your testosterone levels, increases the circulation of adrenalin, dopamine, and pheromones."

Why didn't use bio knee
@stoneclinic21 күн бұрын
Dr. Stone prefers to repair knees biologically when possible. However, if the arthritis has progressed to full bone on bone, then a BioKnee may no longer be possible. This is why addressing arthritic joints early and aggressively helps ensure you have less invasive options available to you. Fortunately, Pedro came to us before a total knee replacement was necessary and his knee could be repaired with a partial knee replacement. I was at an hospital here in Norway and the doctor said that there is three things they could do to my ankle. On was ankle fusion, the second was to look inside to see if there is something to remove but that don't work so good he told me. And the last thing was joint replacement. I had a complicated ankle fracture when I was 15 years old and I'm 53 years old now. I have had pain in my ankle ever since it was broken. It gotten worse this year because I love to run and I was running to much and now the pain won't go away. And I can't even run for 5 min without extreme pain. Is this something you can treat and what is the price for something like this? Best regards from Norway! Glenn

How low of an activity level? Smashed up my plafond and surgeon talked about how “we don’t bother with fusions - once your ankle goes I’ll be replacing it” - he isn’t a fan of fusions due to knock on effects to other joints. Be sure to check out this article comparing fusion vs replacement. www.stoneclinic.com/blog/ankle-replacement-or-ankle-fusion Ultimately, we are able to repair ankles by regenerating the articular cartilage in the joint and do so without using implants, plates, or screws. @stoneclinicАй бұрын
This the concern of many active patients considering knee surgery. Here is an excerpt from an article I will link that offers a perspective from Dr. Stone on this concern: "The most common question I’m asked next is, “Will I wear out or loosen my implant by sports?” The answer is, “Not likely.” While loosening has many causes, we believe that one of the most frequent is weakening of the bone with aging and disuse. People have traditionally been told to limit their activities as they get older. Actually, by increasing weight training and loading of the joint, the bone mass increases-and the risk of loosening decreases. Nevertheless, even if things do go south, the plastic-based (high molecular weight polyethylene) inserts between the metal resurfacings are now replaceable if they wear out-though they rarely do. In fact, I have never seen one worn out from sports alone, though our marathon runners and triathletes keep trying to prove me wrong." www.stoneclinic.com/blog/partial-knee-replacement-athletes

It depends. If the knee, through surgery, is properly repaired and restored back to normal function, then you may not develop arthritis. However, if their is an abnormality in the knee that causes extra wear on your articular cartilage, then it may develop into arthritis later in life.

It’s associated with degenerative disc disease. there’s a lot of grinding and popping in my back and I guess right now there’s minimal degeneration behind my heart in my spine according to the calcium score scan. My main issue is my shoulders. So if I have a genetic defect for the type of collagen that I need, how are you able to do a stem cell with my own cell? Is there a way to have college type nine supplementation to try to prevent the degradation of mine? is it possible to build type 9? The only types I see in any supplementation is one and three.
