Correction in the sermon: Frank Worsley navigator of the James Caird did not use the North Star for a fixed point in finding the South Georgia Island. The North Star would not be visible in the Southern Hemisphere. While Northern Hemisphere mariners could use this fixed point before modern technology. I was wrong in assuming this was the case for the sub-antarctic crossing. In further research and a kind brother in the church who pointed out my mistake. I apologize for this incorrect assumption. Here is what I was able to find on Worsley's navigation as it relates to fixed points of reference. In his own log of the journey he used what was called at the time "dead reckoning. He used, when ever he could a sighting the sun, the fixed horizon, GMT time and a nautical almanac for his calculations. Pastor Raleigh Rhodes
