In about 5 minutes of googling I found out that “European Sleeper Company” is a low-budget sleeper service between Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Czechia. They offer a very limited service. Typical of “private”, usually non-union, train operators, they cherry pick the most highly-travelled routes only. This leaves state-owned operators to make less money on these routes which prevents them from subsidizing operating trains on less-popular routes. The end result is to make rail travel LESS accessible generally. Discount operators also go in and out of business very fast and can change routes too. The ticket you buy 3 months in advance may not be good on the date of travel. For night trains the competition is OBB nightjet which is a much higher quality service with many more routes.
