Seems like this would be a nice alternative to the Conon RF 200-800mm in a lighter more flexible form factor. Thank you for the nice presentation.

Thanks Deon, beautiful footage of the flycatcher and chicks! I use a 100-400mm mk ii with a 2x extender too. I started with the 2x ii, which delivers good results, as you have shown. But I found it a little slow for acquiring focus for birds in flight (coupled with an EOS R). Then I managed to sell the 2x ii and got a 2x iii (luckily the price difference was small). I noticed that the newer version it is both sharper and faster. Also, I learned that the 2x iii is from the same generation of the 100-400mm mk ii, that's why they work better together. I've just got an R5 mk i and my fist tests with this lens and extenders have been great. Cheers!

Awesome video Deon, and yes plenty of walks in the North island. The contrast is very different to the ones down south. I’m also glad there is no snakes in New Zealand, i had an encounter with a red belly snake in the blue mountains and that threw me off hiking in Australia lol

@@deonvanrooyen5920 yes that is unfortunate. Ourselves had to stay in Auckland for 6 months because of bringing pets with us as well as time needed to find house to buy in the location we wanted. We could not rent a house due to all the animals we had (which Surprised me compared to Switzerland). We had to lease a commercial building.

Metal. It's what the Greeks called anything that came out of the ground, so metal ore but also rocks are 'metal'. Why it's still used I've no idea, but that the origins of it, according to Stephen Fry and if he says so it must be true

As a born kiwi, your account of the various points is quite accurate. One thing though ... use of mobile phones or other electronic distractions while driving is HIGHLY discouraged, and can be fined. Probably something you could have touched in your safety point. But otherwise - a really informative video for your visiting, or migrating countrymen. Oops another point (minor) "Kia ora" has many different uses and meanings depending on the context of the situation, and the inference. Kia ora (depending on how it's said and when) can also mean - good health, thank you, cheers (raising or clinking of glasses), ok, understood, gotcha, even acceptance when being told off ... I thought your video was pretty good though. Kia ora 😉👌
