At 52:30 or so - I wonder if the original recording with the wrong notes is still in some archive. 🤔

Pogorelich is one of my favourite pianists - ahh that usual crystal clear sound, minimal use of pedals and of course the cyclone-like tempo!!! Well, I came here literally searching "pogorelich prokofiev 3", knowing how angry Martha Argerich (who also happens to have perhaps the most famous rendition of prokofiev 3) was when the jury threw him out of the Chopin competition(even I was equally disappointed ngl) and oh boy, Argerich is yet again proved right - he IS a musical genius❤‍🔥👑💪🎶🎹

This is a powerful interpretation. I am confused why people say Pollini plays without feeling and very technical but less emotion. This sounded like he was not only angry, but had plenty of coffee on this day.

The long-playing record with this piece was a cherished possession gifted to me by a friend who purchased it in the UK. All during my late teens and early twenties I would play it constantly. I left it in family home when I got married, but unfortunately on trying to retrieve it subsequently it was nowhere to be found. Therefore, I am intrigued to find its contents here.

In my opinion she was too young for Schumann here. There is a version with Arrau in the same year on this platform for comparison. Radu Lupu 1994 is a rather original version, Alexis Weissenberg 1986 a brilliant and powerful one. But most importantly, *Perahia New York, 1986 !* Also very instructive is Bernhard Ruchti's a tempo version.

Thank you Luca for uploading this. In had a tape of the original CBC radio broadcast, but it has since disappeared. I knew the late Don Newlands quite well when we worked at a classical station 35 years ago. Newlands and a CBC producer camped on Horowitz's brownstone apartment building doorstep for hours to get this interesting and very amusing interview. Horowitz was obviously in a very good mood. He loved playing in Canada. I spoke to him briefly after a New York concert in 1978 and asked him if he would play again in Canada. (His entire fee had been ripped off at a recital in Montreal.) He replied "Oh sure ...in Toronto, in Toronto!" He play a third recital there about four months later.

This is very painful to listen to...an old man who from how he plays seems to have never heard Norma performed. No understanding of Bellini's tempos or what Lizst showcased with his transcriptions. Anyone with ears who has heard the Opera and listened to great pianists will know. Just listen to Kevin Chen at 18 playing this at the Duszniki Festival 2023. P.S. he obviously knows the Opera well 🤪and shaves off SIX MINUTES from the Bolet torture.

I love how he doesn't play the glissando in the end, but instead pairs the RH with the LH ending with a fuller chord. Marvelous play.
