Install a new modern Pressureplate from Joes Motorpool and the Nois is away ! The Noiseporblem are the Save- Adjustingsprings on outside of the Plate ( not the Pressuresprings) .

Hi Bill, you just need to remove the cover pressed on the rest of the horn. Slightly tap on the edge of the cover all around.

It can be mitigated through a perfect tune-up of leverages, king pin, steering box play and so on but never eliminated. It's Jeep!

You know it happens when you mix nos parts and repro/new parts .....it cannot be perfect. Sometimes I had to reinstall the old parts even though they were not in very good condition because the new ones just didn't fit. The joy of restoration....

That is a cool find. Test them just to have the pleasure to hear that vintage truck sound. You need a battery . Using cables you could put them in series and use a 12 V battery. But they would need to be insulated from the common support.

Le poste 300 je retrouve mes 20 ans en Algérie un poste 30mhz longueur d'ondes les 10 mètres, des km avec le poste dans le dos avec une antenne demi onde de 5 mètres,mon début dans la radio avec le trpp8 en portable ,ainsi que le poste C10 un poste moins lourd. A présent il y a des postes plus au top .

Encore plus courtes les longueurs d'ondes, 6 mètres, 40-48Mhz pour le SCR-300. Vous deviez aussi avoir un BC-659 qui lui donnait dans les 10 mètres en FM. Et le poste SCR-300 est toujours aussi lourd aujourd'hui, avec ses 16kg. Chapeau de l'avoir porté sur des km, même à 20 ans. Ça devait être une punition :). J'ai aussi le TR-PP-13 qui est une petite merveille des années 70-80! Merci pour votre commentaire!

@@yvesderyckel4500 je portais le poste radio car j'aime la radio et à l'armée il y a pas grand monde qui aime parler à la radio , en patrouille il y avait souvent du changement , porteur de vb grenades à fusils ou porteur du fusil mitrailleur le 24 29 assez lourd , ou être à l'avant avec une mat 49 , et les porteurs de sacoches à chargeurs et quand même des jours de repos .

Vers les années 1978 j'ai fais de la Citizen band le 27 mhz bande des 11metres en mobile et en fixe avec un mât de 8metres et une antenne demi onde fixe de5m50 et tout ça sur un immeuble de 5 étages, à l'époque avec 2 w en émission .ensuite j'ai pris des cours de radio amateurs dans une station radio et je suis resté seulement écouteur.

Quand j'étais jeune j'ai commencé aussi sur 27Mhz puis vers 15 ans. j'ai appris le morse avec un ami sur la CB pour passer ma licence d'amateur :) ! Je l'ai obtenue en 1969 à l'âge de 16 ans car on ne pouvait pas l'avoir à 15 ans et des poussières :)! (ON6YD)

@@marcbouetbouet3056 Oui, mais les GI's américains ont rapporté qu'avec l'antenne ils faisaient des cibles sur lesquelles les allemands et les japonais s’acharnaient. Ils devaient la plaquer au sol. Et les français en Indochine, qui faisaient porter le SCR-300 par des vietnamiens, n'étaient pas du tout contents de la mauvaise qualité (ou même l'absence) de tropicalisation. Leurs postes tombaient tout le temps en panne. Les condensateurs au papier prenaient l'humidité. Avez-vous opéré avec l'ALAT ou le GATAC ou GAO? J'aimerais identifier un support de SCR-300 ou AN/VRC3 pour avion ou hélicoptère. C'est du matériel français.

I am getting the same noise in my GPW as well. It's because it's missing a holding clip which dampers the noise.

Hello. Do mean the 3 clips? I have tried to assemble them on my clutch without success. I believe you are right, because sometimes I can hear that noise even without pushing on the clutch pedal. Something is vibrating.

Hi Mo, thanks for your message. You cannot find many radio chatters as the recorders (wire) were not so common during WWII. And very heavy ! Here you can download a set of recordings. www.dropbox.com/s/55xlde7fftvamja/Military_Radio_Chatters_MP3.zip?dl=0. I like the call for artillery which seems to have been recorded during a WWII training ! You can also find many recordings from the Vietnam era, but many of them are from Huey helicopters conversations. Also many recordings from the Awacs aircraft. Not exactly the Battle of the Bulge. Perhaps you could record radio traffic from movies... .

@@MrTestkonto123 Yes sure, there are only minor differences between both models. The mp3 circuit does not make use of any original component of the device, except, the switch coupled to the main volume potentiometer, the receiving cell in the handset and the phone jacks. I've already modified a US and a French model. When she comes here, my little granddaughter (3 yo) is always happy to switch my BC-1000 ON and talk to a doctor :) ! And it seems that she receives instructions though the handset :) :)!

Non, ce n'est pas particulièrement difficile. Il faut juste savoir utiliser un fer à souder pour l'électronique. A defaut demander à un ami. Ou vous pouvez télécharger le pdf de cette modification: www.avi-plus.com/download/HOW-TO-MP3_BC-611_SCR-536.pdf. Oui, je sais , il faudra que j'en fasse une traduction française :)! La bobine d'antenne et le tube du BC-611 qui sont retirés pour faire place au ciruit MP3 sont conservés en lieu sûr... dans le compartiment batterie du BC-611. Toute la modification est réversible au cas où on voudrait retourner l'appareil à sa configuration d'origine. Merci pour ce partage de notre histoire. Cet épisode est en effet ignoré de beaucoup et je regrette que la commune n'y prête pas plus attention en particulier cette année 2019 et ce malgré un appel de ma part. Aux anniversaires, je place d'habitude ma jeep Ford GPW 1943 devant l'entrée du château avec un affiche et un drapeau US, mais cette année la route est bloquée car en travaux. Pas de chance pour le 75ème anniversaire...

Why do you say that? The guy, i.e me, who is restoring stuff like that (forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?t=247961) , would certainly not simply repaint a vintage horn. See also here for that horn : www.avi-plus.com/repair-tips-forum/mechanics/tips-related-to-mechanics/inside-a-vintage-from-the-30-s-sparton-twin-horn.html#2775. Once you have to cleanup the contacts, removing rusty magnetized particles, you need to slightly readjust the tuning screws. It's rather crtitical to tune to a peak sound. Yves

@@yvesderyckel4500 i said so cause it seemed the horn struggled to make some decibels.lot of reasons,it cud be loose point of contact some point in the entire circuit of the horn from the terminals to the last connections to the induction coil,pitting/oxidization in the contact point.i too am a horn enthusiast and even i fix old/vintage/sealed horns that come to me from sources.but i make sure it sounds like it was designed if i get them in my hands be it diaphragms,induction coil winding,contact point refurbishing or compressor cylinder lapping,it doesnt give me peace till i fix them right,all the best

Hi, it was due to poor contacts with the probes I've used for the video. With the 6V relay inthe circuit, it much more consistent. Listening again to the sound, I hear what you mean :) .

This was my father's (Blair Xavier Carmichael (1922-2000) unit. However, I don't see any photos of him. He went through 7 vehicles during the fighting in WWII. Greyhounds, Shermans, and Stuarts.

I've never found what it is. Perhaps the NOS clutch plate springs.

I have a 1943 willys mb with a very similar noise that has been bugging me for some time and I just can't pin point where the noise is coming from , have you managed to get to the source and fix , as I'm very interested to know , thanks

I had the same problem, 99.99% chance worn out timing chain. I swapped out timing chain and fixed the issue.
