Where what what O_O Now I want a set! And do you think we can add puddle lights, or even better have the schematics you made, miniaturized and built by PCBWay or similar PCB manufacturers?? These would be GOLD! Tempting to look up a similar way of retrofitting P2 or even P3 folding mirror on a P80. 3D print some mounts/brackets and have them metal printed as a part of a package from PCBWay. I need to know what you think!!!
@mattatkinson6604Ай бұрын
I was thinking about the puddle lights… yes totally possible. I did have led’s going to the handles like a bmw… but they keep failing and there isn’t quite enough room for a bulb holder and led to replace them. But using a feed wire from the curtiousy light to the mirror would be fairly straight forward. My mirrors are maxed out with wires so wouldn’t be possible for me now unfortunately unless I rewired with a smaller gauge wire.
@mattatkinson6604Ай бұрын
Also, the pcb way thing is an awesome an idea but I do not have the electrical engineering know how or terminology and component knowledge to make that work. The size of this new controller box will be a minor issue. Still need to fit to my car which I may do this weekend. Currently my v70 has one power folding mirror (with stock control). I have a c70 too which will get them next.
@BuzzBazzJАй бұрын
@@mattatkinson6604 there is a video on a turquoise S/V70 I found today as I also found your video, from a few years ago. That video shows folding mirrors with blinkers in them, so I wonder if there are more models. If so, what cabling is in those to maybe piggyback puddlelights. When it comes to redesigning the PCB you made, someone on something like Fiver or even stackoverflow could help with that. I have little knowledge myself, but there are programs that make it for you based on a general design. So if you have a technical paper on how it’s to be, the program can “build” it for you in the most effective way possible. Shouldn’t be hard😄 And if possible, you can have the design ready to go from the manufacturer.

if you have enough patience, the Ultra Racing longitudinal triangular braces achieve the same result as they connect the front subframe to the mid-brace and then go all they way to the back by the deltalinks.. but they take months to get!
@mattatkinson66042 ай бұрын
Thanks for this, yeah totally aware of this but I also think there are some other way more sensible mods that can be fine ahead of this. One of them being bracing up the anti roll bar links at the back. You can pop metal conduit around the rear anti roll bars and lock them in place with grips which dramatically reduces roll. That and upgrading the anti roll bar bushes. Both in my to do list. This brace cost me the best part of £30 😎

The bigger question is, why would you ever park a car in neutral?!?! I was taught that manual transmissions should be left in first gear, and automatics in park, then use the emergency brake/parking brake as a secondary backup in case the first fails. I’ve owned a few older cars that would just roll down the hill slowly if you only used the ‘handbrake’. (They aren’t all a lever, some are a pedal, and others a button making the name handbrake a less accurate description. Can you tell ‘handbrake videos’ are a pet peeve of mine?)
@mattatkinson66042 ай бұрын
Simply put, i never out the car in gear as I forget to take it out and it launches forward… also not fun haha. However, for safety when working on a car i usually put it in gear for this purpose to stop it rolling… I don’t know why I didn’t this time round unless it jumped out.

Impressive - you made the decision in milliseconds as to whether you had the ability to stop the roll without injury or to just let it hit the other car. I'm not sure I would have had the strength to stop that once it was going but then again I'm a senior (in age) now and probably not as strong as I used to be. I let the hydraulics and wheel chocks to do all the heavy work these days! And the last time I adjusted the handbrake, it was all perfectly level in the garage!
@mattatkinson66042 ай бұрын
If I hadn’t of done this, it risked both cars going out into the road… the v70 also has a weak handbrake and needs adjusting… next on my list!
@jonathanparle84292 ай бұрын
@@mattatkinson6604 The handbrake on my Kia is a real pain to adjust. I had to buy a few universal joint attachments to actually get to the adjusting nut via the removable cover at the rear of the centre console. Unfortunately those flexible drive attachments just aren't really strong enough to take much torque at all - even on a small nut like the handbrake cable adjuster. Otherwise the other option is to remove the entire centre console - which is a huge job. I often wonder whether the people who design cars have ever worked on one.
