Do not use led it make dirty black powder, use brass balls. 2 hours is not enough, at least 24 hours mill time. Gonna laugh about this but it's the honest truth. You're correct soft wood does make for a faster burning black powder and back then it depended on your location for what was available. Willow was popular in the south and furs in the north but there's something today that will add several hundred fps velocity simply by using toilet paper for your carbon source. Place the roll in a air sealed metal container just like your wood except the process takes less time because it has less moisture. Your 3 ingredients need to be ball milled separately and of course the finer powder burns faster. The testing I seen milled each ingredient 36, and 48 and 72 hours with the 48 hr around 100 fps faster than 36 and the 72 hrs around 200 fps faster than the 48 and 300 fps faster than 36. I agree 72 hrs is a long time to mill but the velocity don't lie so if speed is what you are looking for in black powder this is the way to go. Each black powder grain serve it's purpose depends on what you are shooting from, a pistol serves better using fine powder because of the short barrel but longer barrel and using a heavy projectile serves using a little slower like a ffg. Black powder may be primitive compared to today's powder but there's a science behind it that will give you a better performance. Also add that the toilet paper carbon was burning cleaner than any black powder or substitute black powder than I have ever seen, almost as clean as modern smokeless, it really impressed me in this area.

So why not store it?

Hey I made it and it worked too but there is some problems i. It's a little bit watery ii. It doesn't form a dough after I add alcohol in it iii. It left yellow and white hard residues after burning And iv. It is also a little bit sandy Can you please tell why these are happening

Do not use lead. It makes super dirty powder. Use brass balls. Much cleaner product!

This is close to identical to my first batch of homemade black powder. Burn is inconsistent this way and density is not near Goex so must weight it to get anything resembling reasonable velocities. Go to everything black powder and watch Willard’s tutorials. It must be pucked (compressed) then ground, then glazed which is tumbled without media before it’s done. That’s the only way to get repeatable results that compare to commercial powders. Yes it’s awesome shooting powder you made at home. Why not really master it?
