Its not out quite yet, this is from the open multiplayer playtest that was recently conducted a couple of months ago. Should be playable next year sometime.

She's talking more about her family than the Union as a whole. Also, almost all of those deaths were ordered or carried out by Ed, Kelly, or Bortus. The only guy the Doctor killed or seriously injured was the scavenger who took her hostage. The crewmates infected by the Void Bug DNA were told they would be killed if they continued to be a threat and were then given time to flee the ship. The Doctor values life. Bortus and most of the other officers, less so. Kelly will kill just about anyone if it means saving the lives of those she cares about. Ed just wants to explore space in a nice ship and keeps getting sidetracked by genocidal and fascist aliens.

I've heard Spiner say Star Trek future still isn't fully peaceful, because every crew member and every ship has a weapon. Orville's apple didn't fall far from the Star Trek tree here.

To be fair, at least the first time the whole crew was somewhat stunned by the effect of the anti Kaylon weapon. Someone else called it Mercer's 'Oppenheimer moment'. That being said - LOL! The whole composition is great.

The whole point of fighting for peace is to have no war, if you need war to get to a point of no more war, then you have failed and worst you betrayed the ideal of peace regardless if you realize it or not. A peace won through violence is not a true peace, it is merely forcing a calm on a growing storm that will rage at the first opportunity.
