Nathan Lukes had 1.2 WAR in 22 games. Something he does works. We need league minimum impact like that. I hope it's his job to lose to loperfido - who must earn it. If Loperfido becomes peak Rasmus , then he gets to play. He started very strong in AAA last year. If I was told we would get him and 2 others for Kikuchi, I wouldn't have believed it. And as far as Bo, compared to his best season, he was 25hrs, 71rbi, 60+ runs and 20-0 in steals short. It happens. I've been saying since Gimenez was acquired that this offense is fixed if Bo can recover a decent portion of that and Gimenez provides average play. Who doesn't think it's going to happen? A guy like Santander should be added to help - not counted on to replace non-production from our top players. That includes hitting Vlad's 40+ HRs. Let's see that one more time..

Pitching. Pitching needs to rebound, this team was last place in Pitching WAR last year. Might not be sexy but Quintana/Scherzer/Turnbull, Winker, and AJ Minter and/or Scott Alexander is likely a better use of money than just Bregman or Santander. I'd still like a power bat, even if only theoretical power like Torkelson, Benson, or Wisdom. Popkins seems to have a record of being able to maximize those types of bats.

Speaking of Vladdy-why not. In 3 playoff seasons (6 games), 2020,2022,2023. He had 22 at bats, 3 hits ,for a .136 BA, 1 RBI....sure that's worth 500mil. Let's remember his last 4 stellar months in the 2024 season came when playoff hopes were basically over for the Jays. His record is not good under pressure and in clutch moments.

Everything about the Blue Jays, Toronto & Canada right now sucks really bad. Why it’s bad? 1. Bad Prime Minister. Justin Trudeau. 2. Toronto is the big Liberal city that Canadian News will burn and pressure a player that doesn’t agree with the woke-ism going on in the country. For example; Anthony Bass. Look how the jays just cut him just cause he didn’t agree with Pride Month in Toronto. It will turn off American Players not wanting to play in Toronto cause of the pressure of doing something they don’t normally or do against their beliefs. 3. Taxes. Yeah you have NY and California has similar taxes like Toronto but you have to still go extra stress dealing with Canadian taxes too means you have to get a Canadian Tax person. So Why Sign in Toronto that you can play in New York or San Francisco that you don’t have to deal with anything extra the exchange tax rate. 4. More International Students than Born homegrown fans. Not trying to discriminate but if a newcomer is in Toronto they not thinking about the jays or any sports team to support and cheer for; so attendance will dip drastically if the tickets gets too high and team is bad. 5. Jays are on the verge of rebuilding again. Very poor farm system, Vlad & Bo could walk and jays overall are not a proven contending team.

We had 27 WAR last year as a team. The Gimenez trade tells me they just hope to improve that and live with the results. Its a math game now. Soto was the only player on the FA market with a WAR higher than Gimenez last year. Well, Teo, nick Martinez and a Bregman were all similar (within 0.3 WAR). Regardless of 'the bat' (which was identical to ernie clement), we got one if the best players this off-season.. out of nowhere. In 2021 we had a 31.5 team war. In 2022 it was 32 2023 was 30.9. Between Bo and Gimenez, you have to think they pull in about 8-10 WAR alone. Add Vlad and Varsho with 5+ each and thats 4 players who should account for 60% of our target. 2 each from Kirk and Springer would be all I'd expect. Bregman is a Guaranteed 4 war. He would push us even closer to that 30 range. Santander is about 3 and offer legit power. (Tho maybe not 40+) Lukes is a WAR machine. (1.2 in 22 games) Expect him to be there for the whole year. None of this works if Bo doesn't rebound. We need his 4-5 WAR. ** Double checking the stats. Those 30WAR target is lineup only. Our pitching staff was a 0.1 war last year, down from 15 the year prior. That's the only thing that needs fixing now. Rebounds are our only real option

If the jays and vlad are this far apart still, I see an Aaron Judge situation playing out and that doesn’t scare me too much. If there is honest mutual interest and the only thing they can’t agree on is $, letting the market dictate what he’s worth isn’t crazy. If the jays tell vlad “hey, whatever the market dictates for you we will match it and add $X million for you” then that’s honestly a good strategy…..if there’s mutual interest that may be the way to go. It’s risky for both parties though…..the 1B market is not developing like Vladdy hopes and Alonso is probably waiting to see if vlad can set his value.
