Then you're using it the wrong way. A whip isn't there to punish or really hit the horse, it's there for giving signs to the horse. Like your legs do when riding. You need a whip with you. During competitions you're not even allowed to drive without. So learn first before you say something that's not true. And if you're using the lines or reins for giving signals you're hurting the horse a LOT more, especially in its mouth.

You ALWAYS use a whip while driving. You don't use the whip to hurt the horses but to give signals. Don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about.
