People underestimate the difficulty of manoeuvring a truck in reverse.
@californiadreaming92167 ай бұрын
Motorists/cyclists: DO NOT drive/ride behind OR in front of a big truck during a backing manoevre UNLESS signalled to do so by the truck driver or a spotter. You MUST yield. If you are injured or killed when failing to yield, neither insurance providers nor law enforcement will have anything yo offer you.

20+ driver here. This driver did a great job. I have stops like this, but I know where I need to put it to make the magic happen and get outa the way of the crazies. You wanna see skill? Take a look at the drivers backing 53’ers in Manhattan and New England.

I wouldnt say amazing.. this is very normal stuff for lots of docks in Australia.. and then theres reversing doubles at 90 degrees onto finger docks at distro centres that were made when only semis delivered there.

I'm just learning these skills, before I started my training I didn't even realize how difficult it can be. This driver has years of experience. Big respect 👍👍

Micheal-jd2li I've been doing this for 18 years, all over North America, over 2 000 000 miles. If you would like a couple of pointers on difficult backing manoevres like this one, just ask. I'm happy to share.

@@californiadreaming9216 thanks very much 👍 the most difficult part for me is to know when I have to follow the trailer as I tend to turn too much and then I have pull forward and start everything all over again.

I've worked there, backstage loading dock of the Stadschouwburg (theater). Marnixstraat, Amsterdam. Inside, the trailer is unlocked from the truck and lifted to the first floor to unload.

When you can, if there's enough room to maneuver, get out and slide the trailer tandems all the way back and get rid of that overhang! It can take the side off of the truck next to you or damage other property. He couldn't do that here because of limited forward maneuvering room. But other times it works like a charm.
@Veeboer124L4203 жыл бұрын
We can't slide the trailer axles. There stuck in one position. That's normal in Europe
@jackelias4053 жыл бұрын
Ah, that's too bad they don't slide. I wonder why? It must make it hard to load the trailer right, assuming Europe has axle weight limits and weigh stations like the US does.
