Just put my ceder fence 3 weeks ago. I’m gonna seal it tomorrow. I was wondering if I should use any cleaner and power wash before? Should I let it dry 48 hours before sealing?

Nah man no need to clean a fence that new. I would use a good oil based stain with the sealer in it.

Not bein a dxck or anything. Even a regular paint job lasts longer when kept covered, in shade or in a garage. And use UV spray coating or UV spray protecant. Etc. And when you clean your ride, dont use acidic solvents and such. ✌️

So which ones for you? The whirlaway seems a bit more sedate and laid back, possibly less intense when cleaning, but more control for weeds etc with the turbo nozzle :)

I agree with how you did it. I used a turbo nozzle on my own fence and it came out good. I just started far away and moved closer until the dirt and old stuff started coming out. I'm in Texas as well and looking to start cleaning fences, which is why I did it on my own fence first. How old was this fence in the video?

This was the clear Thompson's water seal. When I stain a fence I get a locally produced oil based stain with the sealer in it.

I'm not here to hate. Just a brother helping a brother, but this isn't good for the fence, I think you can use stuff like Oxalic Acid and soft wash it and it comes out great, that high pressure is damaging it. I think it forces water into fresh wood and it can dry out and rot and what not. It did get cleaned though.

Appreciate the comment. Yeah man I used to softwash fences but I found that pressure washing is better when staining the fence afterwards. We do fence Restoration, so it's a little more than just washing it. When watching those videos about softwashing they don't tell you about the dead plants they leave behind. Not on every job, but it does happen. As far as damage to the fence, there's none. Maybe the first fence, but that was about 200 fences ago. I enjoy the 5 star rating that I've accumulated over the years.
