Thank you, and like some others here I still managed to drop the threaded grommet into the dead space - I think a 20mm holesaw hole between the two screws as was mentioned below!

Thanks, have read the manual but wanted something more visual. Manual says to only remove that one screw (, so I assume you did not read the manual? Also, manual says to remove the cable from the negative terminal first. Other than that, thanks for making the video available.

It's worth removing the connection to earth first (usually at the negative terminal), then do the opposite when re-connecting. This is to reduce the chance of a spark causing damage to the ECU: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIikdJp9m6atlcU

Thank you for the instructive video. Had to pull out the negative and the positive chord. The negative chord had a small coupling attached which I disconnected. That made pulling out the battery dead easy!! With careful fumbling it took me 20 minutes. When doing this operation again, 8 years from now, I guess it would take me 10 minutes. Havent put the new battery in, but it should be a breeze, apart from connecting the terminals which i always a bit fiddly.

By the way - I left the bike on the centre stand. Gave me no issues!

'Battery can now slide out'. It's a nope for me. Too many cables to tight to get anything out. Looks like something has been fitter retroactively on my 2011

Hell yeah. I was trying to hook up a USB on my w800 cafe. I looked under the seat and was like "Okay so... shit. This isn't an easy one is it?" 🤣

Thanks for guide but still managed to push grommet through even after your warning. Tip, used a brace and bit to make a larger hole between the two grommets making it easy to get them back and replace them as I’m sure I will do it again in the future.

Its a real pain in the ass to reinstall all the parts removed to remove the battery. I've been trying for two days to put the cover back on right to no avail. I hate the battery location on this bike. Truly hate is the right word.
