Thank you 😩I’ve been driving myself mad with how deeply some of these patterns seem to have embedded into my playing. It’s one thing to secure a pattern into your muscle memory. it’s another thing all together when certain patterns are so engraved into your playing that you can’t quite grasp the concept of how you’d go about exploring outside of these patterns due to the fact that anytime you try to create some patterns that have a different vibe somehow it just ends up either sounding just like the ones you’re used to or your hand just mechanically resorts back to those patterns the second you start paying more attention to anything other than what that hand is doing. Gah like how tf do I end up playing a 6/8 time piece in a way that gives off a 4/4 feeling!? But still be keeping 6/8 time? Hard to explain or maybe it’s not I dunno. anyways it’s safe to say I’ve hit a plateau.. lol thanks for the homework ☺️

After learning Alan Gogoll style of bell’s harmonics I’ve been struggling to learn the harp harmonics but this video by far has been the most straightforward and helpful. Thank you!

The finger to guitar string angle is such a fundamental thing, but it was not explained in any of the beginner fingerpicking tutorials I've ever watched. With my wrist in the same position as when strumming, I struggled with my fingers hitting the other strings that they weren't plucking. With the wrist raised, you get such a cleaner angle of attach, and it is SO MUCH EASIER!!

I love this style. Actually I have heard it a lot before, and now I get to learn it thanks.

Did not know about picking the strings w/fingers "standing up" / 90 degrees to strings - helps a lot! What's your opinion on anchoring the pinky to the guitar top?
@leosmith52663 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, you'll want to avoid anchoring the pinky. It's one of those things like Simon mentioned that feels easy at first, but ends up being inefficient in the long run. It will introduce tension into your picking hand that you don't need. It might feel a little awkward to play without that anchor if you're use to it, like you're suddenly 'floating' and maybe aren't as sure where your hand is in relationship to the strings, but you'll get the hang of it with a little practice!

Great vid. Improved my picking and cleaned up my sound immediately. Picking the strings straight up helped so much. I’d forgotten that detail. Great lesson. Thank you sir. 🏆

Hello, What is the picking on your right hand? For the Em pentatonic scale, what finger do you use on your right hand? Can't see it clearly from the video
@acousticguitarlessons90536 жыл бұрын
Hi Imanuel, I am using my thumb (p) on the open E String (6th string) and my middle finger (m) on the higher notes. You could use your index finger instead of your middle finger on the higher notes if you preferred. I use combinations of both these fingers and may do at times in the video :)
