"Spend-a-lot-on", and "smooth" are the same sign. I can read this and I'm not, well, I can read this! What I was interested in and what I was good at were the same things, experiment, play, explore, natural things, it comes to you, before you know it, if you love it, maybe are distracted from disappointment, why feel that, does nothing, where did we learn that? What we focus on expands, put everything into curiosity, intrigue, discovery, let it blossom in us. Many of the signs you made say the same things, passionate, expressive, exploring, fine tuning, getting everything across, even if the signs are like no where else, still understand, that~

Why is the letter H palm-orientation reversed, should be palm in for "soutH:....
@WinkASL Жыл бұрын
Good catch! Usually the H's palm orientation would be inward and not outward as you see in the trailer. The reason why Dr. Bridges shows the H's palm orientation outward in this case is due to him demonstrating the fact people can fingerspell with three fingers. He holds down the two other fingers and shows how that word can be spelled while keeping the pinky and ring finger down. In normal use the H would be oriented inward, towards the signer, but in this demonstration he felt it was necessary to hold down the fingers while spelling for educational purposes. The rest of the examples in the program do have the typical palm orientation.

I see this video is posted 2012. nope. you are not correct, not frozen text.. each state writes their own version of miranda warning but must 'explain' 5th and 6th amendments before 'interrogating '
@WinkASL Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I think since this is a clip out of context there may be a misunderstanding. You are correct that the Miranda warning can vary. However, when Brandon calls it a “frozen text” he does not mean the versions are the same everywhere, in fact he says in the program that versions do differ. He was attempting to distinguish the Miranda warning from a “live text” or in other words “spontaneous” speech. This means interpreters can grab a local copy and practice their translation. The phrase “frozen text” is from the translation studies circles and in context that is clear in the DVD/on demand streaming version of this program. Sorry for the confusion!

@@WinkASL I have been wondering how much leeway foreign interpreters has when translating miranda warning to non-english speaking "arrestee". did anybody check the law on that level?

I'd like to find the resource mentioned in this article. Where can I lay eyes on "Deliberate Practice" by Dr. K Anders Ericsson? I'd also love to find a broad range of mentors. It just feels impossible.

His workshop on deliberate practice has been my guide principle now as I train to improve my skills. Also I recommend the two readings he mentioned in the workshop, "Grit" and "Peak Performance". I listen to these two audiobooks on my long commute to work. It's kept me motivated.

Hello and thanks! I kind of take requests, in that I listen to what people want and think about it and put it into a running list. But I do LOVE Ellen! So, the chances are pretty high that I will do a translation related to her!

Perfect timing. I feel like I've gotten into a rut in my interpreting, and failing the NIC performance exam this winter kinda stung. I know where I need to improve but it's been daunting, picturing the sort of interpreter I WANT to be and comparing her to the interpreter I am NOW. It seems impossible!! It doesn't help that my provincial certification is almost up, so suddenly my mind is thinking "I have to become super skilled in a few MONTHS to pass the NIC?? I'll never be ready in time!!!" Does this happen to other young interpreters? Because so much of my work is without a team, it feels like I'M the only one with these anxieties.
