Hi Anand, just to inform you that especially on an offshore oil rig that a crane operator has many other responsibilities apart from just operating the crane on deck as well as working with the supply vessels. You will have a deck crew ( roustabouts) to handle to carry out various jobs on deck. Some rigs have a deck foreman to take of this . Moreover most of the crane operators have started out as Roustabouts and then gradually been trained to operate the cranes and later after subsequent experience and certification ( ABS, Sparrow etc) got to work as crane operators. Apart from the salary and leave cycle it’s a hell out there and not what you’ve seen in the videos. Maintenance of the cranes is part of your job and not just the responsibility of the Mechanical dept. Like it’s said “ everything looks greener on the other side “ that’s a myth . Pls don’t get fooled by the videos. Not trying to discourage you but a crane operator on the rig is like a “ whore” whom every department ( Drilling, mechanical, electrical etc) screws the shit out of you. Not forgetting your own very Barge engineer who’s your immediate boss. I’ve worked with the best companies ( Sedco Forex, Transocean, Ensco, Pride, Roman )as a crane operator and it’s all the same wherever you go. Safety is inside the accommodation training room while outside its “ I don’t give a shit just get the job done “ or else pack your bags to board the next available chopper back home. Don’t let this disappoint you but be aware of what your going to expect if you decide to take up a job as crane operator on the rig. 😊👍 All the best . Take care. Work safe.

Hi, I am in talks with a trainer from Aberdeen for the Stage 2 as I got experience from contruction and qualifaied CPCS crane operator sale and Luffer also pedestrian and Slinger signalled and crane lift supervisor, this is my website: rafcranes. co. uk as I got experience they will alow me to do the stage 2? But I will then need all the rest opito, offshore medical not sure if they all the same or were I can do this that can be acepted all over the world. I am confused on what safety trainings to get to as they so many different ones, I need to find out some and train with qualification that also help me in the future as Bosiet, Fuet etc the cost for 2/3 qualifications is almost the cost for one... but if I do one by one is verry expensive

What the qualifications you can advice for this job position apart from Sparows stage 2 and Opito, Offshore Medical? do i need a C5/G5 or Bosiet - Mist Can you help? Thanks
