The writing between Matt and Tom isn’t that different. I mean, if Matt had never been in the band, and someone told me Tom wrote this, I wouldn’t blink an eye.

After the atrocities that came out of Nine, I have way more appreciation for California, I’m glad to hear Tom play some of the songs from that record

It's not even that Matt sounded bad, because he didnt. The issue was that his voice was very similar to Mark's and also that Tom has an incredibly distinct vocal style which always contrasted nicely to Mark. Glad to have you back, Tom.

Amid all the greatness of Tom returning and them sounding teriffic, let us also not forget to rejoice in that we no longer have to endure that horrendous clean guitar tone Skiba used when playing this song. Praise the Lord. It was so bad.
