I'll share a little story. I remember those days back to the 80s that Aaron talks about back in the "rock and roll days". While Aaron didn't mention the name of the Texas rock & roll band, I have fond memories of working with them numerous times. I was a disc jockey at the Sheppard AFB Airman's Club in Wichita Falls, TX. Sheppard was on the base circuit that Aaron's band the American Peddlers played at. I usually had the pleasure of warming up the crowd for the Peddlers. I would often also introduce the band and bring them on stage. They had a big military crowd following for several years. Back in '86 or'87, I will never forget visiting with Aaron before a show one night and he shared with me that he had written a country song .....A country song for George Strait named Baby Blue. Trust me when I say, by 1987 King George was just about as big as it got, especially in the Lone Star state. I must confess, having a rocker inform me he had written a song for Mr Strait, caused me to be a tad bit skeptical but I'm sure I congratulated Aaron on his accomplishment. I'm not sure if I ever worked with or saw Aaron again after that night and I probably forgot the information he shared. It wasn't until the next year I heard George Strait singing a new song on the radio called Baby Blue. I rushed out to buy it just to confirm it was Aaron Barker listed in the song credits as the writer and sure enough, Aaron's name appeared bigger than Dallas on the record label. As I now look back 35 years, Baby Blue was one of the biggest from George Strait in 1988. Aaron if you read this, I will never forget that night and have shared this story a time or two over the decades.

I love both the original and the George Strait one both in different ways. I so much admire the songwriting talent in this song as well as the actual performance by both artists and the fantastic backing on both versions -in their own way. I just love the song.

I have been playing guitar (not well) and writing songs for 30 years. I am simply amazed by his guitar playing. Just cannot figure out the chords he is playing. This has been one of my favorite songs since I heard George Strait sing it when I was driving through Amarillo many years ago. However, George did not do it any better than Aaron. Just amazing!

I knew Aaron in San Antonio. My stage name was and still is Boogie Allen. Aaron called me one day and said that they were opening up for Ronnie Milsap in Stephenville Tx. and wanted to know if I would play bass for the band that night. I said but your the bass player. He said that he just wanted to sing that night. The American Peddlers were an awesome band. Then one day we were listening to CMT TV. I heard this guy singing and I told my wife that that sounded like Aaron Barker. I ran to the TV and sure enough I saw him at the end of the song. It was a patriotic song
