Thanks a Million for this gem of a Video. For all K-Town residents and from around the city this is a contemporary document of high value. Can you try to re-upload it including at least some of the High-School band performance? This is the band of Burggymnasium Kaiserslautern and I know some members from the time. It would be greatly appreciated! I like especially the Shop window of Spielwaren Gotthold, the toy store with the RC-models. I used to flatten my nose on this exact window looking after the latest model trains and RC-models. …what a great time. Really appreciate you for this video!

Yeah, that was my dad. He was super smart and a great amateur documentarian. Also incredibly good with the camera. Unfortunately for the viewers, 9th grade me was shooting this, lol, but modern image stabilization has helped a lot. Still really cool to see the old ways (cockpit, etc) and Allendale, Crestview and Highland back then!

Hi there "tvdb", thanx for sharing this video. Obviously this was filmed in the night before the day when the unthinkable happened. I was there the next day, as a German visitor. I guess it was at least the 5th or 6th time I went to the air show at Ramstein Air Base. It´s somehow a weird feeling to watch the video, ..everything looks strangely calm, peaceful and impressive at the same time. All the numerous Fighter planes gathered in the static display, very impressive, fascinating engines. And this fascination brought me there, year by year. This "attraction" allmost killed me the very next day. I stood in a place where the debris of the midair collision of crashed jets rained down like a shower of grey spots in the sky, getting bigger and bigger the closer they came towards the very spot where I and the other vistors around me stood. Even today when I close my eyes, I can see them coming down on us, they strange, grey dots in the sky. I don´t know why, but I stood there, frozen on the spot, while the grey "dots" came down on us, wounding people severely, partially ripping of their limbs, tearing huge wounds in their very flesh, killing people instantly in an arms length away from me, literally in an arms length. I didn´t have a scratch, not the slightest one, ..up to his very day I cannot believe it, ..I stood right in the middle of hell, ...frozen, ..feeling strangely calm, ..with an inner voice telling me that I have seen, ..I have experienced, ...I have survived worse, much worse in my life. Up to this very day I really don´t remember the hell in my life that was worse than this hell. Because I was a trained and experienced medic (started as a student at school) I started functioning, as sort of a first responder, delivering first aid to the few ones who had a chance to survive. Did this for almost four hours after the crash. Then I left Ramstein Airbase that day, the way I came there that day, by train. I guess since this very day I started believing in fate. Believing that the main things, the important things in my life will just happen, no matter what I do, I think, or believe. No chance for me to prevent me from my fate, ..no chance at all. I don´t think life is what we make of it, ..for me it was and is what is happening to me, ...you survive or you die, ....you become a victim or you don´t, ....no fucking matter what you do or you don´t. On that very day my fate said: You won´t die today, you won´t get a scratch today. I really don´t know or remember what I´ve lived, I´ve seen, I´ve survived that was much, far worse than this hell, this catastrophy at Ramstein Airbase that very day. Wait and see what my fate has got "in the box" for me, for me in my remaining future days. Obviously my fate decided to lead me - by chance - to this video of yours. Just because I am profoundly interested in "railway stuff", ..and you posted a railway stuff video about KAISERSLAUTERN mainstation in 1985, the very year in my life when I came to Kaiserslautern to live there up to this very day. Fate. Take care THOMAS

Ein schöner Film, vielen Dank! / Nice film, thank you!

Traurig.

Thank you! Great town. It's almost like a 2nd home to me. I've played in the Philharmonic for almost 15 years. Usually when we see a train on this stretch of tracks it means we're going to be late for a rehearsal, haha. I was down in December for the first time in maybe 6 years and thought I'd see if I could capture something. I am a super casual railfan, and didn't even realize how the lines work or that KCS was a thing, but learned all about it putting this together. Wasn't sure where to try to tape, so chose this spot that I knew.
